    Xbox 360 Wireless N Router

I was wondering about this product. For christmas I received the G adapter, but for ten bucks more I can trade it in and get the N router.

The question I have is that I am not going to upgrade my wireless router to N, any time soon and will leave it at G. The xbox will be in the basement and the router on the first floor, and currently there is not full signal on to my laptop like that.

By having the N router adapter, even with having a G network, will this offer better speeds and range?

Nope.....being that your router is G, the N adapter is going to automatically drop down to G speed.

Kind of like putting a ford escort engine inside of a porche and expecting it be as fast as a porche, its not going to happen. They have some basic N routers for around $55 and $65 now.

Right I know that it is going to cap at the G speed, I guess is it going to be able to receive the signal better from the G router? Or is that going to be limited to the broadcasting of the router?

It is going to be limited. Since the adapter can only pull as far as the router actually sends it. So the choice is up to you, you can stick with your G or buy the N. Never the less you going to have to upgrade your router, especially if you going from one level of the house to an upper level.

I have a N router with the G adapter and my speeds on Live is VERY good. So when I do get the N adapter, my speed will be superior.

Also keep in mind how fast your internet is too. Because that plays a part in it as well. I have 18mb download speed with 5mb upload speed with Comcast. With that type of speed and my N router, I have a very strong signal upstairs, down stairs, front yard and back yard.
