    rheller,

You're a 20th level...the game combines the levels as your overall level. You can't get any higher than a 12th level Jedi and 8th level "other", as far as I know.

I was 12 and 8 as well, but I was looking at the Bioware (developers) forum and GameFAQs and there is a way to get a higher jedi level. When it says you can level up, just don't. Let it sit there. There's a slight experience points bug for the other characters, but you can just wait till you're a Jedi to level up. Makes Taris a lot harder, and I don't really care that much for more jedi stuff. I'm just playing it the way it was intended

can you get light and dark side points if you are not a jedi yet? i am trying to be evil but am not getting any points. i am still on taris at the sewer entrance trying to find bastila. my saga will continue tonight. any rough estimates on when i might become a jedi? time wise. a couple of hours? couple of days?

                        Re: KOTOR Characters

You can get light/darkside points before becoming a Jedi. Saving the guy getting roughed up by Bounty Hunters on the streets gets light points, so does saving the alien from Sith Interrogation in the apartments. Conversely, by letting them drag him off you get dark side points, etc.

                        ************SPOILER ALERT**************************

After you find Zaalbar, you have to go beat the Rancor, then get into the Black Vulkar camp. Navigate the camp, steal the motor, go back to the Hidden Bek base, give them the motor, win the swoop race, defeat Brejik, meet up with Carth, go back to the cantina, break into the Sith base, steal the codes, back to the cantina, over to Davik's, go through HIS mansion, get more codes, disable security, and get off Taris. In Dantooine, you become a jedi fairly early...couple tests and you get your saber.

So, as far as timeframe...as far as you've gone in the game so far, you still have at least that far, if not more, to go before you become a Jedi. However long it's taken you so far, double that. And that's without the little sidequests on Taris.

KOTOR is a long game. I rushed through to try to become a Jedi (did it in about 4 hours gametime), but I'm having much more fun exploring every nook and cranny this time through. And now that I saw rheller's "smoke" on his character, I could have become MORE evil...so I'll make a 3rd trek through the game as a sassy dark jedi bitch who kills anybody who hits on her
