I'm dissapointed this won't be released on Genesis.

i believe there is still a place for 2D side scrollers. Never liked any of the 3D sonic titles. Not sure why it seems developers think 3D is better.

I still play the old sonic games till this day. and the music on those old games were classic.

Because 2D is incredibly limited at this point in time. Developing a 2D sidescroller with limited if any innovations for the 360 or PS3 is like buying a Ferrari to drive around residential neighborhoods.

Luckily for Sega, nostalgia is a hell of a high. They're about to get praised to high heavens for what EA and 2k will get bashed for.

So there's some leaked gameplay footage out. Plenty of awful physics and the horrible homing attack in use, but the highlight is one of the worst levels I've ever seen...

a mine cart motion control level? ugh...

Hype completely diminished after seeing all the new leaked footage. Just put Sonic out of his misery SEGA.

Oh for God's sake... now they've ruined 2D Sonic! Man have they lost their touch with this series.

Oh well, that leaked footage just saved me some cash.

I guess I won't be wasting my time with this one after watching the video of that level. WTF have they done to this franchise is beyond belief.

That looks annoying as hell, but I'm not going to let one level stop me from buying the game.

Looks fine to me, I don't understand what all the fuss with the mine cart level is all about (though how in the heck is that gonna work on the 360 with no motion control?). IMO they haven't ruined anything. Yet.

My one problem with it is the way Sonic runs. Looks floaty. I hope that gets changed.

Also, another issue is that the whole game, at least from the leaked footage, seems to be a Sonic 1 remake... anyone else get that feeling?

the video shows that the 360 will use the LT and RT to tilt the screen, which is probably more annoying than sixaxis. It's just an awful 2D level design that also really has no place or relevance in what this sonic game was supposed to be about.

As for it being like a Sonic 1 remake, I feel very differently. The homing attack kind of breaks this throwback gameplay style, which really sucks. Just watching all the leaked footage is depressing. Sega really doesn't get it anymore. Even so, I'll probably still try a demo...

Imagine if there are more levels like this one throughout the game.

yeah I saw where it mentioned the triggers to move the screen. If I get the game (which would be on the PS3) and there's an option to use the triggers, I'd switch to that. New Super Mario Bros Wii had some levels like this where you have to rotate the controller to move through the board and I did not like those levels at all. For me, it will be easier just using the triggers than using motion.
