I picked it up, and am playing it.

I know I keep going on the rant/excuse, but without a control scheme that allows me to turn my guy with the left stick and strafe with the right (similar to Scout in old SOCOM games, Legacy in COD), I just have no decent control aiming down the sight. It's not a matter of getting used to it or not, it's that I feel I lack in control this way.

At any rate, I'm just awful getting back into it. My K/D is assuredly around or below 0.1. It will dramatically increase as time goes on, but not to where it should be if I had my Scout control scheme. I don't know why they never bothered patching it in.

Anyway, there is a community for the game, and that's part of the problem. I think the majority of the people who play are those who play very often, love it, and are just plain good at it as a result. It's hard to go back into the mix this way.

I think the statement about the community is spot on and true for most online shooters. I'm sure the hardcore guys that play all the time love the game (just like COD and BF3 players) but it makes it really hard for a casual guy like me to get into online shooters. Can't knock guys for playing a certain game all the time but it sure makes us casual guys feel like we stink.

Not only that, but they'll vote to kick you if you do. I had a 8-13 round going the other day (relatively good for my current standards), and I had four people voting to kick me. It's a disgrace haha.

Anyone still have Confrontation ? That game had so much potential.. I still own it, but I haven't played in a very long time.

We need to get as many OS guys together as possible that have or play this game so we can just play and not worry about that. My game will get here on Monday (Downfall of not living within 100 miles of a best buy)

I just sold it back to Best Buy after picking up SOCOM 4. Good game, but I only need one, and would rather play the more popular one, though I am far inferior playing it.

My copy finally came in the mail. I'll most likely hop on later to play. Should be interesting considering it's been years since I've touched a socom game.

It's really not an "in between" game from my experience. You're either going to find someone who likes it or someone who hates it.

I didn't enjoy it at all. If you can find a solid deal, it may be worth trying.

Well from the 30 seconds it took me to get voted out of a game the online play was kind of fun. I managed to get a kill yet still got kicked.

They ruined socom.. Confrontation was way better.. They turned it into call of duty which is lame.. I was so disappointed.
