Marvel vs Capcom 3 In The Works

Confirming the rumors posted the other day, PlanetXbox360 reported that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was shown at Capcom's Captivate event in Hawaii.

There's an embargo on the details, so you won't be seeing screen shots, movies and other things until early next week, but here's the notes they were able to get together.

• Confirmed characters so far are Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm and a few others will return.

• The Marvel vs. Capcom 3 development team said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes on the disc.

• This will be another 2D fighter — gameplay-wise — but will be something of a cross between the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 4.

• The rumored release date is late 2010 or early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, no plans right now for other systems.

• The game will run in 1080p resolution.

• It will be a disc-based release.

• Apparently the game will have unlockables again.

• Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at this year's E3 which is held on June 15 - 17th.

Nice, so they must have worked something out with the Marvel license since SEGA has most of it for games.

Well this fight stick is getting a better ROI with this news, glad fighting fans stepped up w/the release of SFIV and let them know we would support new games.

Well now i have a reason to buy an arcade stick. I just hope Magneto/Sentinel/Storm aren't broken like MvC 2. See: Tourney scene

I jumped off the street fighter band wagon when they started all the juggling moves. It just got a little too complicated for me. This might give me a reason to jump back into the genre

You do realize this series is all about juggles and hypers right?

there's even more extreme vids out there of Strider infinites (why i had to stop playing, it was SO easy for me to get people into that trap) and that damn Magneto/Storm/Sentinel broken *** team.

Exactly, at the experienced player level, the game was very competitive and fun. At the elite level, it was just ridiculous.

yeah i know its all about juggling (and tagging in). I'm thinking of getting in because i can start on the ground level as opposed to coming in late in the game. I got hooked on the tekken combo system and that's been my fighter of choice since like 2000.

I think all those 2D sprites jumping around in 3D will be epic. How about when that little kid summons the mecha with all the guns on it. its gonna look great

If the trailer is any indication on how the final product will look I will never need another fighter.
