    Mega Man 10 for 7-year-old?

I heard that MM9 was ridiculously hard but that MM10 has an 'easy' mode.
My son loves Mega Man x on his DS. I was thinking of getting him MM10 for the Wii or PS3 for his b'day.

Has anyone played it here yet? Would it be easy enough for a young kid?

Another game I was thinking of getting him was TMNT Smash UP. I heard that's a fun game for young kids too.

I have Mega Man 10....though I haven't touched easy mode. Let me play a few stages on it and I'll let you know what I think - I've beaten the 8 stage bosses on normal so I know what to look for as far as differences.

Re: Mega Man 10 for 7-year-old?

Alright, here's what I noticed while playing the 8 stages:

Enemy placements - in some of the more difficult areas of the stages, enemies seen on normal simply don't appear
Less damage taken - It's basically like having a guard powerup on all the time - minor enemies only take away one or two bars of energy.
Platforms over spikes/pits - Hands down the biggest change. Not ALL pits/spikes are blocked, but in most cases the threat of instant death has been removed.
Slower enemy/weapon movement - Obviously makes it easier to read the enemy's movements and attacks. Couple of examples from Commando Man's stage:
-Normal: Certain enemies rise quickly out of pits as you attempt to cross them, hitting you and
likely knocking you to your death if you don't lure them out first
-Easy: Said enemies fly out MUCH slower, making it easy to jump over them as long as you don't
        hesitate before jumping.

Boss/sub boss attack patterns: Many of the major enemies attacks have been weakened, both speed-wise or in the number of attacks. Blade Man, for example, fires three knives on Normal, and they are FAST. He fires two on easy, which come out somewhat slower.

Full recovery capsules near most sub-bosses and bosses: These things are almost non-existent in the normal game, but they completely refill your energy when you grab one. Seems to be at least two in every stage.

One thing I didn't mention because it appears to be exactly the same - the amount of damage you do to enemies. I really didn't notice my weapons any more powerful than on normal.

Basically, most of the challenge now comes from dying from losing all your energy, rather than falling down pits or onto spikes. And that makes getting through most of the stages a pretty easy task. The bosses will be the real challenge, but even they are significantly easier than on Normal.

I'm not exactly sure what a 7-year old would be capable of handling, but I do know this - at 9 years old I played my first Mega Man game (that would be MM3), and was able to enjoy it. That, of course, had no Easy mode - it had all the challenge of the other games in the series. If you're unsure, you might try getting the demo and see what it has to offer - even if it doesn't have easy mode, try to imagine what I mentioned above and you'll get a pretty good idea.

One final thing - you can earn trophies in Easy Mode. I got the Trusty Sidearm trophy for beating all 8 bosses with just the Arm Cannon while checking all this out.

When I was 7 all I was playing was tecmo super bowl and duck hunt LOL. I swear kids got it made now with how good games look now and the variety it is now. Back then only around 12 or 14 games came out a YEAR. Now you get that or more per a MONTH.

Thank you very much bcruise! That info was very, very helpful!
I think I'll download the demo and see how he likes it. He loves the Mega Man games for the DS so I think he should be able to handle this then.

            Thanks again!
