KOTOR questions from a newbie

I pretty much play two types of games, Sports and Star Wars. KOTAR is my first RPG, and I beginning to learn it, but I am still confused about some things.

1. I understand that combat is turnbased where I can queue up my moves but the CPU executes them based upon random number generation. But sometimes when combat is engaged, I am shooting at an obstacle between me and my enemy. Should I move to get a better shot? Is my enemy getting free turns on me while I move?

2. Sometimes my vitality meter changes from red to green. What does this mean?

3. I know there are some penalties for using a weapon in each hand....are there any advantages?

I am still in the early stages of this game (sewers on Taris). It is alot of fun, but I think a better understanding of the rules will become more important as the game goes on.

Thanks

1. You should move to get a better aim at your target or else you may end up wasting turns(or rounds) without hitting anything. Moving cancels all your actions, so you would have to queue everything up again. Yes, moving does give your opponent free licks on you.

2. When your vitality meter changes to green, that means your poisoned. Your energy will continue to go down until you're knocked out. Only way of curing yourself is an antidote.

3.I think someone else more experienced may be able to answer this. I'm still in the early parts of the game also. And I'm still learning everything.

I'm no expert on the D&D type stuff (there are some forums on the official site that explain the numbers) but basically with either a double ended lightsaber or two lightsabers (or melee weapons) you have a penalty for using the off hand weapon. Where you gain though, is in extra hits. So you might lose accuracy or defense, but you get in more hits. It's really not that much of a difference, so just go with what you like. The math is kinda complicated, but just have fun. I went through with 2 lightsabers my first time cause I thought they looked cool.

Thanks for the help guys.

I also noticed that you can transport back to base (when not in danger) which regenerates your health....It kind of seems like cheating. Are there any disadvantages with this that I am unaware of? Is it considered cheesy or is it normal to take advantage of this instead of using medpacks?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but I have yet another one. Is it possible to lose at an RPG? Obviously you could get stuck and quit, but is it possible to not collect an item or skill at one level and then later you might need that item but can't go back? I am not even sure if what I just said makes sense?????

Anyway, thanks again, and I apologize for the remedial questions.

I don't think going back to the hideout is cheesy. Its a pain in the *** because you have to walk all the way back from the base, but other then that its ok.
Your second question I'm not too sure about.

You should stick to your Atari bball dynasty.
