It happens to me alot too. From what I hear if you got a really fast trigger fingre it may cause the gun to jam because it thinks u have a modded controller. I dont think this statement is accurate, but hey I take it as a compliment that i have a fast fingre lol

Thanks for the response Ninja, that actually does make sense. Never thought about it. I fell like Treyarch should warn you about this. They should refund me a controller! lolComment

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Any one here use the FAL a lot in multiplayer? If so, have they ever had any problems with it not firing sometimes? Since it is a single-shot weapon, I'm wailing on that right trigger (360 version) and it has happened on occasion where I'll get the first few shots off and then my RT just stops working. It is SOOOO frustrating. Just happened to me again and I had to rage quit since I was about to throw the controller across the room in frustration.
The first few times it happened I thought it was my controller. But since then I've bought a new controller and it still happens to me sometimes. Not all the time, but more than once is enough to make me want to stop playing and take a break.
It's probably happened a total about about 6 times, which different controllers. Just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.Currently Playing

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Happens to me with the m14, and FAL. I would say the solution is to not constantly spam the trigger in all situations, longer range encounters you want to be more accurate and select your shots. In closer situations is where I spam and it seems like I have a modded controller but I'm just pressing the trigger very quickly.
Surprised because that never happens to me with semi-auto handguns I can shoot those as quickly as I want without it jamming.Minnesota Vikings

Happens to me a lot with any gun. I also have the issue of pulling my trigger and having my guy do the knifing animation. I thought I might be getting excited and clicking the stick, but it has happened to me while I was prone and finger off the stick.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I played this all weekend and went from Level 1 to 21. Total n00b here, first time I play any COD game in online multiplayer (not new to FPS's though, been playing them since DOOM). I roll with the M14, Reflex scope, and Grip attachments... Lightweight, Steady Aim, and Ninja. I'm still getting the hang of the Perk system and there are things about it I still haven't fully grasped, but I'm new and I guess I'll figure it out.
Some observations from someone totally new to the game...
1. I hate Nuketown and Firing Range. I hate Launch too, but it's because I suck and not because the map is a crazy kill fest. I like to play my game at a moderate pace, and use team strategy but with those two maps it's just pure insanity. I guess some people dig that sort of game, but I prefer the really large maps that promote a slower, more deliberate pace. I enjoy the hunt.
2. People spam the crap out of the FAMAS/Supressor. It's spray and pray in full effect. I'm not hating, it's just annoying when you get picked off by that gun from half way across the map.
3. I wish people used teamwork more, and I wish people would chill on the **** talking so I don't always have to mute everyone, which in turn makes using teamwork difficult.
4. Campers don't annoy me as much as they do most people. I don't camp, I stalk slowly across the map, trying to stay hid. Doing this allows me to spot the campers and take them out. I realize playing this way doesn't get me a ton of kills, but whatever.
5. Right now, I've only played TDM but I find 7500 too low of a score to end the game. I hate it when I'm playing an awesome match that's back and forth, only to have it end too quickly.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

The way you described your play style I would highly recommend HardCore Search and Destroy. In my opinon one of the more addictive game modes and the only I play. Also if team deathmatch is your cup of tea go try Barebones Team Deathmatch, it is the most enjoyable in my opinion.Comment

First of all welcome to the community; which at first seems is only made up of 12 year old nazis who hate and curse at everyone. Just remember to use the mute and xbox live avoid feature often. Over time you will find many like minded players.

True story from last night...
As I was getting n00b tubed by this dude last night every time I turned a corner, I screamed "F---!!!!" at the top of my lungs (which is something I never do). My fiance gets up from the living room and walks into my man cave and is all like "wtf is going on in here?!". "I'm getting n00b tubed by this little jerk" I said. She looks at the TV and says "I thought you never played these games online?". I just looked at her with this black defeated look and said... "Remember that time in the park where we were playing wiffle ball and you could not, no matter how hard you tried hit the ball. You got so pissed off, and wouldn't let me stop pitching to you until you made contact?" Pointing to the TV I said, "THIS IS MY BALL, AND I CAN"T HIT IT". Needless to say, that did not go over to well... (I slept on the couch last night)2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Thanks man. I played some more last night, and I've come to conclusion that this a very abusive relationship, Haha. I love COD but it doesn't love me. My k/d ratio is a horrendous 0.67.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'm the EXACT same way with this game....I never, ever, get upset at video games (or much of anything outside of sports...), but this game is the first time I was screaming out loud and almost chucking my controller across the room while throwing hissy-fits like a spoiled toddler...I don't understand why, the game just pisses me off to such a great extent. But I second the hard-core mode suggestion. Just feels less cheap overall, and I was a lot less frustrated with it than the normal mode. The fact that it's more-or-less 1-shot-kills seems to somewhat even out the poor hit detection and very relativistic time scale (i.e. what you see happen isn't necessarily what your opponent sees happen).

Agreed. I played Hardcore and Barebones Pure all of last night. MUCH BETTER. Thanks everyone for recommending it to me. I still suck, but I usually go 10-15 as opposed to 2-15, and everything feels less cheap.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Yeah, once you go Hardcore it's hard to go back...regular mode feels like Halo after Hardcore (in the sense that it feels like you have to empty an entire clip into guys before they go down....and that's before finishing them off if they're 2nd chance-ing). I noticed my stats also got better after switching to HC; and like DirtyTurtles said, I usually feel like I deserved it if I get popped in HC (and conversely, I rarely feel like I got cheated out of a kill when I clearly nailed someone first, as opposed to being victimized by spray-n-pray opposition). I've never really been a guy that can get 35 kills or whatever in a game (unless it's something stupid like Nuketown), so I'm more like you, thornie - moderate kills, moderate deaths. By the end I was getting pretty good, probably around 15-20 kills vs 9-10 deaths, but it varies so much game-to-game. A lot of it has to do with your connection to the servers, your teammates, your opposition, and seemingly random cosmic forces (being on "good" or "bad" streaks....).
Make sure you don't get too down on yourself for bad games or streaks, though - it took me a long time to realize that much of that is often out of your control. For example, I once had a game where I got killed something like 40-50 times, and pretty much as soon as I took 2 steps after a spawn I would get nailed....but I stuck it out anyway because I'm stubborn, and I didn't realize until the end that although the final scoreboard showed I had 7 teammates, it was completely different names than I started with and most everyone had 0:0 or 0:1 as their k/d....at which point I realized that everyone I started the game with had bailed out, and for 90% of the game I was pretty much the only person on my "team", meaning there were 8 guys standing around waiting to pop me the second I appeared on the map. Not a lot of fun...but not exactly my fault, either.Last edited by pietasterp; 03-23-2011, 02:09 PM.Comment

I really like Barebones Pure, because it reminds me of FPS's when I first started playing them. No perks, no red dot's, no killstreaks, just your gun and your reflexes. I do really well in those games, usually 15-5, 12-10 that sort of thing.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I hear ya man. Actually, what you describe happened to me last night. Everyone on my team rage quit after the first 3 minutes and I was getting destroyed on Firing Range (not my best map to begin with). I refused to quit, so I ended up 3 -20. *shrugs* Also, it took a while for me to get into a hardcore game where people were playing it the "right way", using team work and having dudes watch your back. I noticed a lot of people were just playing it like core, running around like chickens w/o heads thus getting destroyed by the other team.
