Demo played fine for me. The bad part is I'm just not feeling it.
I loved (and still am playing) RFG but I just don't know about this one.

        I'm not feeling it either.

I loved RFG, and played the hell out of it on both the 360 and ps3. What a fun sandbox to just have fun in, and one of my favorite games of this entire generation.

Such a shame they took that game, and turned it into a linear cave shooter with boring aliens. Even the multiplayer in RFG was awesome, but completely dropped for this game.

        pass.

          Re: Red Faction Armageddon

I like this demo. More along the lines of the original red faction(one of my all time favorite games). I pulled out guerrilla today and had a lot of fun...but I'm kinda bored with sandbox games. There have been too many lately, they take too much time, and I never get a sense of "completing" the game. Nice to get back into a linear story.

i just finished the demo, will for sure be buying this game ( unless it gets terrible reviews)...

seems like dead space, red faction and gears of war mixed in one.

i just love how u could destroy most things

                IGN REVIEW

Despite its forgettable story and pacing issues with the campaign, Red Faction: Armageddon is good fun for letting out your inner destructive child. They ability to tear apart and repair the environments at will is a hook that keeps working, and when the campaign gives you plenty of stuff to tear apart it’s easy to lose yourself to a primal need to destroy. Combine this with the other modes, including the especially fun take on cooperative survival, and you have a flawed game that definitely deserves a try.

                7.5 Presentation
The menus, music, and cut scenes look great. The U.I. is slick and it’s always easy to find items in the environment. The story is weak, though.
                7.0 Graphics
Red Faction: Armageddon doesn’t look especially good a lot of times, and the drab, repetitive caves don’t help, either. Still, explosions and destruction are fantastic.
                8.0 Sound
The performances of the actors are solid, and the music fits with the world. Weapons could use a little more oomph, though.
                7.0 Gameplay
Levels vary from super exciting to boring, making it a chore to finish some of them. Additional modes – and especially multiplayer – are great, though.
                7.5 Lasting Appeal
The campaign is worth playing through, and the multiplayer is worth keeping it for.
                7.0
                OVERALL
                Good

                    giantbomb gave it a 3/5..

A few physics-based weapons and destructible environments can't elevate this strictly average third-person shooter.

There's nothing wrong with a good linear third-person shooter, but Red Faction: Armageddon is merely a passable one. Its mechanics are sound but its design uninspired, failing to do any one thing better than the standout entries in the genre. And the few unique tricks it does have, its predecessor did better. After Guerrilla made such a resounding impact, it's a shame that the best you can say about this latest Red Faction is that it's just OK.
                    Seems about what I expected.

Still think this was a bad move for the Series. Maybe they go more open world again for the next one. The Engine can do some great effects.

                          THQ kills Red Faction...

We don't know how badly Red Faction: Armageddon sold, but it didn't chart in the top ten after it's release on June 7. THQ said it's one of the primary reasons the company experienced a poor quarter, and seems to mark the end of Red Faction.

"Red Faction: Armageddon did not meet our expectations," said THQ CEO Brian Farrell on an earnings call today. "While this title has a passionate niche following, the title did not resonate with the sufficiently broad console audience."

"In today's hit-driven core gaming business, even highly polished titles with a reasonable following like Red Faction face a bar that continues to move higher and higher," he continued.

Red Faction developer Volition is currently working on Saints Row: The Third for this November, in addition to the Guillermo del Toro horror production (and proposed trilogy), Insane.

It's unlikely it will be producing another major Red Faction game, however.

"Given that that title now in two successive versions has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way," he said.
                          wow.

It's dead because they made stupid choices. Guerrilla was a great open world sandbox to play around with the GeoMod engine and use creativity to complete missions. The online modes were quite fun as well. Instead of building on the rejuvenated franchise after RF:G sold over a million copies, they made Armageddon a poor Gears style corridor shooter, and the XBLA game was awful generic car combat.

Saints Row 3 looks great, but it's releasing this holiday alongside some giants. I wonder if it'll bomb too.

I enjoyed Red Faction Guerilla but when I heard they went away from that style of game it turned me off. I don't undertsand why they would totally revamp the game considering how well received Guerilla was. Just build on the foundation that was put down not blow it up.
