may be a dumb question...

are there strength differences in regular attacks in this game?

or is everyone fairly equal?

The bosses are most certainly more powerful than the regular fighters. I did have the impression, right or wrong, that there were minor strength differences between the regular fighters; I feel like Jax, with the exception of his fist dash attack, is stronger and slower than Kitana, for example.

How are you supposed to beat Kahn without being cheap and letting the clock run out?

Finally beat story mode. Really love that they recapped it, especially since I never played the 3rd game.

Still love this game.

besides spamming projectiles, I dont know... it seems though, after losing 3 times or so he gets easier, starts taunting alot..leavimg himself open to a beatdown

Yeah, the first couple of times I fought skull face (my name for him) he kept spamming that damn unblockable hammer but then he just stopped using it all together allowing me to use bicycle kicks and fireballs all I wanted.

The bosses are most certainly more powerful than the regular fighters. I did have the impression, right or wrong, that there were minor strength differences between the regular fighters; I feel like Jax, with the exception of his fist dash attack, is stronger and slower than Kitana, for example.

Also peoples Xrays do different damages as well.

The one biotic guy that flys across the screen in a ball (bad with names) does a massive 42% damage with his xray.

In multiplayer, if you are the "host" and can select which arena you want to fight in, while at the screen where you select which arena you want, hit the "Start" button and you'll be treated to either classic MK, MK II, or MK III music during the match. You'll hear Shao Kahn's laugh at the fighter select screen after you hit "Start".

What I did was kept my distance and waited for Kahn to either throw his spear or his hammer; if he threw a spear, I teleported and did the Torpedo; if he threw a hammer, I teleported, stepped in, and uppercutted (as to not to Torpedo into the hammer, which flies slow and can still hurt you regardless of what you are doing). If I ever had an X-Ray, I substituted that move instead.

There's probably a better strategy, but that's the one I went with after an hour of futile frustration trying (and failing) to best him without spamming, haha.

Nightwolf never shapeshifted...? That was Shang Tsung, who can morph into his opponent (console RAM limitations prevent anything else).

I thought night wolf turned into animals during some of his combos in an older game. If not then my bad, lol.

I spent about 30 minutes on this fight just because I wanted to find a strategy other than letting the time run out.

Anytime I was in the corner (or anytime he got close to me) I jumped up and torpedo'd out. If he threw the green arrow/spear thing I just teleported and did the XYXY combo. If he threw the hammer I jumped over it and torpedo'd on the way down before hitting the floor, catching him in his recovery. Other than that just read his movements. When he taunts do EX projectile, don't just spam projectiles though, trading with him will get you killed. If you have Xray wait until he throws something, teleport, punish.

If your next to him jump and torpedo to the opposite side. The armor on his moves nullifies anything you try to do up close.

Thunder the indian guy from Killer Instinct would turn into a wolf or something in his combos. Also I wish Kratos was worked into the story mode. It would be cheesy. Also would Kratos work for or against Shau Kahn? I think for since Raiden is a god and Kratos set out to kill all of them. What do you think?

Speaking as someone who has played all the MK games except Deception, I can't recall any MK character who did what you were describing. Maybe you're thinking of Bloody Roar (a PSX game where the fighters could transform into animals midfight)?
