Re: Mortal Kombat
Hey hey, I'd just like to say, I use scorpion online and know his basic moves and some kombos with him so please don't assume everyone who uses him online is some cheap artist, I just like scorpion.
Also, I have a problem, my girl and I like to play cooperative tag mode together vs. the CPU. However she keeps tagging out and tagging me in. She SWEARS she isn't hitting L1 though. Is there any other way she could be mistakenly tagging me in? She's very frustrated about it and I'm afraid she's going to stop playing with me.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Mortal Kombat
I have found that some button combination does tag in as well, because I do it on accident some times.Comment

Re: Mortal Kombat
Hey guys, I just bought the DLC and am in my first fight. I'm using scorpions new throwback costume, which is cool but I go to the moves list to see his old school fatality and it still says locked...WTF. How do I unlock the new fatalities?Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

You have to actually do them.Comment

Check each characters move list. They all have fast tags or tag in combos.

Re: Mortal Kombat
Yeah the klassic fatalities are like the stage fatalities/babalities.
You have to perform them once, and then it unlocks the button commands in the move list menu.
I am really annoyed by Sub Zero's klassic kostume being the wrong shade of blue. It should be "cyan," not plain blue like it is.Comment

We should try and get an OS KOH match going.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. This would be cool, if we could make a OS room and not have it open to just anyone that would be good.Last edited by Bighoff; 06-08-2011, 12:40 PM.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. Re: Mortal Kombat
WWE Brawl pad finally arrived today! Unfortunately, the seller gave me the fugly Rock/HHH pad instead of the awesome Hogan/Cena one. Hopefully the pad itself makes up for it! Time to put this bad boy through some Super Street Fighter II HD, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Mortal Kombat.Comment

Re: Mortal Kombat
Quick impressions of the WWE Brawl Pad and how it works with a few games:
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD -- 6/10
Diagonals are real spotty. Half-circle motions rarely register. Quarter-circles and dragon punch motions are a little better, but still not great. Definitely don't get this pad if you're expecting to play old school Street Fighter with it. You will be whiffing special moves all over the place.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 -- 7/10
The WWE Brawl pad works better here than with Street Fighter because the Marvel vs. Capcom series is a lot less strict about inputs registering. It also helps that you only have to use the four main buttons and occasionally the top triggers to call in assists and team super moves.
Mortal Kombat -- 8/10
The great thing about Mortal Kombat is that there are no diagonal commands in the special moves! This means you will be pulling all your moves reliably! Dashing is also accurate, which helps a ton with combos.
My only complaint is that throws are a lot harder because the LB/RB buttons aren't conveniently placed. Also, blocking is not as easy thanks to the awkward positioning and feel of the shoulder buttons (LT/RT).
However, being able to dash, combo, and enter special moves reliably is definitely worth the trade-off of trickier throwing/blocking.
Overall Rating-- 7/10
WWE Brawl Pad is a great, inexpensive option for improving your Mortal Kombat experience. I definitely recommend picking one up for $10 - $20 if you're Mortal Kombat fan and a tournament-quality arcade stick is out of your price range. I have already gone from being a sub-.500 player in MK ranked matches to winning two-thirds of my matches, all because my dashes, special moves, and combos are finally registering with consistency!
However, for fighting games that require a lot of diagonal inputs, you will feel disappointed, because the WWE Brawl Pad does not pick up those motions well.
Fighting games with 4 main buttons are also easier to play than games that use 6 face buttons, because the RB/LB buttons on the WWE Brawl Pad are placed too far away from the main XYAB buttons and slant down at an odd angle.
The shoulder buttons (LT/RT) also feel like they are placed too close up to the top edge, making it a bit awkward and uncomfortable for fighters that require you to use LT/RT frequently.
Recommendation:
Get this pad for Mortal Kombat only, and don't pay more than $20 for it. In Mortal Kombat, it's a huge improvement over the stock Xbox 360 controller, but still not enough to make the WWE Brawl Pad worth spending $30 or more.Attached FilesLast edited by jyoung; 06-09-2011, 08:53 PM.Comment
