New Silent Hill Announced

Konami has announced a new title in the Silent Hill series.

The new game, tentatively being titled Silent Hill 8, returns to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.

"In honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, we're working hard to build a next generation horror game that the fans truly deserve," said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "This Silent Hill introduces an all-new storyline and unique evolutions in gameplay, building on innovations and successes from over a decade of true survival horror and terror."

Not many details about the game were revealed, but Silent Hill 8 includes third-person gameplay, "mind-bending" puzzles, and a "thought-provoking" storyline that promises to appeal to fans of the classic Silent Hill titles. The game also has side quests that will change depending on your play style.

Looks awesome, i cannot wait. Love Silent Hill. Became my favorite survival horror series a long time ago. The only one i didn't like was 4.

Looks awesome, i cannot wait. Love Silent Hill. Became my favorite survival horror series a long time ago. The only one i didn't like was 4.

I really did not like SH4 at all, either. Big disappointment after how much I liked SH3. This trailer has me interested and I can't wait to see more of what Downpour has to offer.

It's funny to see this thread after I just picked up Silent Hill 2 for $2 at Gamestop the other day, I saw it sitting in the bargain bin and thought 'why not?' Been a while since I've played a Silent Hill game.

Graphics are nice and atmosphere is pretty good but it plays terribly. Just watch it on youtube or something.

I really want to like the new Silent Hills but the bain of my existance is they still have a ton of useless locked doors that I still have to try to open.

New addition getting to chop down wood planks to open a door. Good times. Guy can't step over a tree either. Has to go an entirely different route.

I miss Obscure...just get out the baseball bat and break the dang window.
