    Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Made a pretty BIG BET on that very thing happening. For us to compete, to truly get on the playing field, we need Reckoning to sell like crazy.

My bet is that the lack of awareness and first day sales will get made up by word of mouth after launch. We believe the game is that good.

    We banked on it.
I'm bringing this Curt Schilling quote back because I'm really interesting to see how word of mouth affects this game. I get the feeling that millions of people who would absolutely love this game are going to sleep on it, because of the name, it being from an unknown developer, and the lack of(so far) a heavy marketing campaign.

Skyrim is one of my top five or six games of all time, but everything I read about Reckoning makes me think that, for what I'm looking for in an RPG, it will be the better game.

It not being a party based game is the only thing that I see right now that diminishes it's potential G.O.A.T. status for me.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

      .
Every time a Fable game comes out I am disappointed, because that is the type of RPG I want to play. I want something that has an interesting world combined with excellent combat that gives me combos, reflects character development, etc. As far as I can tell Reckoning has what I want. I am very excited for this game.

The demo was good. Reminds a whole bunch like WoW. Talent trees, loots, minimap and quest icons. I enjoyed the demo, but I just don't see paying $60 for this game day one. Graphics were ok, story seems interesting.

Finally got around to playing the demo this morning. Went very smooth for me. Had one dialogue speed-up in a little over 30 minutes.

I will not be canceling my pre-order. Just trying to decide whether to get this on 360 or PS3. Probably will go 360 since Twisted Metal comes out the following week.

Is there a demo on the 360 and/or is it just for Gold members? Wanted to play through it for the ME3 items but didn't see it (XBL Silver).

Yah they've started to just hide demos for Silver until the week is up.
I have to DL it again on 360 to get the ME3 stuff too because they only gave me the items for PC this time, unlike DAII where it gave me all items on all systems.

                Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I've read many posts on many boards about this game not being worth a day one purchase of $60 and I'm not sure why.

The main story line is around 50-60 hours and with all the side quests it could take 100-200 so you are getting a great gaming value right there. Now if the game is horrible then yes what difference does the length mean but so far from the demo I don't see that happening. Also a lot of the post mention the graphics just being ok, it's on par with a lot of games that come out so still not a valid reason to not get the game on release.

I've been waiting for a game like this for a long time. I do really love RPG's but the combat is always lacking and the story has to make up for that. I liked the original Fable and wanted the sequels to be better and for me they got worse, way too many menu's and the combat was always a bit slow. I like the action combat and hope that they can pull it off in the retail release.

That's how I felt about Dragon Age, but everything else was awesome. I'll give up graphics for a solid story and RPG.

Because as much of a value it may be at $60 for you, it'll have even more bang per buck when it's $30 for me. I've got a nice back log that I need to get to, am still heavy into Skyrim (which will most likely increase once the CK is out) plus Mass Effect 3 in a month or so, so I won't have the time for this game.

It was a fun demo, but I'm not going to pay 60 bucks for it to just sit there. I'll pay a reduced price later on when I want to focus on it.

I think it's worth a day 1 purchase, I personally am just waiting for games now.

I have enough old stuff to play as it is, so I'd rather just wait and save a bit of money since I'm finishing UC3, Skyrim, other games.

I'm trying to break the "buy tons of new games and barely play them due to lack of time" cycle I'd been in.

Waiting because you have so many other games is a valid reason and I respect that but most of the threads I read didn't mention that as a reason. I too have a ton of games on backlog and I'm replaying ME2 now to get ready for ME3. I can't resist buying the new games though.

Day 1 for me. Been thinking about trading in Skyrim and UC3 for this game. Perfect combination of action and rpg imo. The camera was a little wonky for me, though. Only downside. I don't like it when the horizontal movement is mapped to both the left and right sticks. Makes for some unintended crazy camera movement.

I really liked the graphics in the demo. Nice cross between WOW and Fable. Much more colorful than Skyrim (not that Skyrim has bad graphics. Quite the opposite, in fact).

                            Looking forward to February!

I don't want Mass Effect to ruin this for me so I'll wait....but I love the combat in this game...

I'm tempted to pick it up and let it hold me over until ME, but I know I'll struggle to pick it back up after what could be 3-4 months..

For me the month between Reckoning's release and ME 3 is the perfect amount of time, since I won't have any other games fighting for playing time. I'll be able to get 100+ hours in for ME drops.
