Games that you've purchased, but keep putting off

Due to lack of time I'm amazed by how many games that are in my collection that have yet to be opened/played. Just now I've seen a review on Gamespot for GTA: Chinatown Wars for the PSP that made me think "Wow, I forgot I had that". I'm quite sure I've yet to remove the shrink wrapping.


The thing is I never buy games at full price, as I always wait for their price to drop before I purchase them. But I also love to purchase old games too (old as in PS2 and Xbox games).

These two reasons alone mean I have way too many unplayed games in my collection. Halo 2 on the original Xbox is another one that springs to mind.

So what games do you own that are, as yet, unplayed?

I'll know doubt note down some more when I get home from the office to investigate.

I'm alot like you in only buying bargains but I usually buy them, complete them, then move on to another. But I bought Red Dead Redemption for 49.99 (which is high for me) and I've only played it a couple times. It's still sitting there while I try to complete a couple other games.

Looking back I could have waited to buy it and got it even cheaper.

I find that I am purchasing games, at full price, and not playing them. I have been putting off:

1) Red Dead Redemption: I have only got to Mexico in the single player, almost no multiplayer
2) Alan Wake: Played the first real chapter
3) God of War II and God of War III: I replayed GOW I on the PS3 and started 2, but haven't finished
4) Borderlands: Played until level 15 or so, then stopped
5) Resident Evil 5: Played the first couple of levels, then put off

I will play all of those games, at some point, but now that I have reached the point in my life where I actually have to be an adult, I find playing games (not buying them - mind you) difficult to do. It seems sort of backwards to me. When I was young, I could play all the games I wanted, but didn't have the money to buy them. Now that I have the money, I don't have the time. Oh well.

I just cracked the case on Guitar Hero Metallica last weekend and I've had that game for like 2 years or something. Most games I have i've played but some of them for only a couple of hours. It's disgusting how wasteful that is.

I still have Infamous and Bioshock sitting on my shelf. I intend to get to them one of these days.

Batman Arkham Assylum - I've had it since December and it is still in the wrapper.

I put a little bit of time into Infamous but haven't played it in about 6 months.

Ahhh yes, the gamers pile of shame. I was sort of embarrassed, but it's fairly refreshing to see that I am not the only gamer in this situation. I almost never pay full price for a game so when I get these bargains it's like ah man that's a steal I have to get it! Only to find myself later not having the time to consistently play in order to complete some of these games.

In no particular order:

1. Red Dead Redemption: started playing this after finding it for $32 but have only got about 3 hours in...haven't touched multiplayer
2. Mass Effect 2: started, but can't find the time to play consistently
3. Uncharted Drake's Fortune: gotten to about Chapter 4 I believe
4. Call of Duty World at War
5. James Bond Quantum of Silence: one achievement received
6. FNR4: about three years in on my created fighter's career mode
7. Tiger Woods '09: bought this on the cheap when '10 came out. It's two editions later and I still have hit a ball off the tee
8. MLB The Show: EXCELLENT game but I have this feeling time is going to run out on me with this
9. Killzone 2: found this at Sam's for $16 new, still in shrink wrap and they're releasing info on 3.
10. Uncharted 2 (still in the shrink wrap ) I want to play this but I feel like starting it now would just lead to another unfinished game...

Sadly, I know there's a couple more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Thanks for whoever came up with this though, I feel so much better. It's almost like I was able to get a little weight off my chest like a gamer's therapy session knowing I'm not the only one, LOL. I am getting better though. After getting married in May I started to see how wasteful this was, almost sickening to a point. Even went recently to cancel a couple pre-orders I had.

God of War Collection, Uncharted 1 and 2, Far Cry 2... I'm sure there are more somewhere.

I played the first hour of BioShock 2 and Fallout 3, and haven't touched them since. I will finish both.

Red Dead Redemption-Bought this the day it came out and probably have played like 4 hours worth and haven't touched it since like May.

I bought Disgaea 3 a few months ago while it was on sale, but haven't really played it much at all. It isn't because I don't like it though, it's because I want to beat the first two on my PSP first.

That's the only one I can think of that fits the OP's question, though I have several that I've yet to finish and haven't played for awhile.

Dirt 2 and LittleBigPlanet are rotting on my shelf. I played Dirt for a few hours for a couple days, then NCAA happened. I played LBP for like an hour, then NCAA happened.

The record, though, is my playing Resistance: Fall of Man for 3 minutes before never playing it again and selling it. That's not an exaggeration, either. Literally. 3 minutes. Every time I thought I should play it, I would play something else.

Orange Box - I played Team Fortresss a lot and finished Half Life 2, but I
never got to the Episodes and Portal.

Kameo - played a little and liked the art style and gameplay but never got back to it. After all this time I'd have to start over.
