Starting to read the patch notes now...


-Unguided tank rounds and RPGs will now instantly destroy Jets, Attack Helicopters, and Scout Helicopters.(Thank god! Worst thing was to shoot a tank at a chopper, clip it's tail, and just watch it fly away disabled.)

-Laser Guided missiles can now be distracted by Flares. (Damn, it's gonna be hard to take down choppers once again.)

-Flares for Jets and Choppers now reload at 11 seconds again, (They sure love to favor choppers in any battlefield game)

I noticed those changes too..

I would be happier if they just let the pilot and co pilot have a seperate set of flares, instead of one set and leave the timing the same.

I hate being in the air and out numbered by jets and choppers only to avoid a shot with flares and instantly be locked on again before I can even evade.

On some maps, It's easy to get away and get behind cover, but a map like Kargh is tough to fly on.

Even the best pilots struggle, when they're alone. It's always awesome to have a gunner.

Question for anyone that might know....

Is there any FUNCTIONAL difference that exists between the scopes that dont have magnification? Is it all cosmetic, and just depends on what you prefer?

I usually use the reflex. But i dont know what the difference is with the holographic, the kobra, or the pka-s. Besides obvious appearances of coarse.

Any help in this area would be wonderful.

Kharg won't be too bad as now stingers have less range. It's the easiest map to circle strafe on and not really anywhere for vehicles or infantry to hide behind. Yeah, there's less cover to fly behind, but in return you have open space to fly around and attack.

The longer I play, the better pilot I've become, but I may not get to the level I was with it on BC2... I loved piloting choppers.

It is that much different going from BC2 to BF3 for piloting choppers? I'd think you'd have an advantage?

-The MAV will now be destroyed when running into a soldier or vehicle at high speed. It is still possible to strategically sacrifice your MAV on a soldier; it will be destroyed in the process.
-The MAV now properly shows up in the Kill Feed. Previously it simply displayed "KILLED."
-The MAV can no longer be used as an elevator

The kobra/RDS have a marginally quicker aim down sight time than the holo or pka-s. The 3.4X scopes require a little more time and the 4X even more.

Just curious, is there a major difference between the SMAW and the stinger? I just started dabbling with the engineer class as I primarily played assault since I've had the game and I'm having trouble blowing up tanks with the SMAW. Does one do more damage than the other?

you mean SMAW and RPG? Stinger shoots aircraft. If you meant the first, then the only difference I see is obviously for the SMAW n RPG is the reload time.

As a chopper pilot I can stay in the air for most of the round unless a plane shoots me with guns out of the sky or rams me. Tanks were always the one thing I worried the most about. Now that flares work against laser guided missiles and under the radar works against Stingers, chopper pilots will never leave the sky.

Yeah, i looks like they are counting on the pilots to release the flares prematurely in order for tanks to succeed.

hit me up if ya ever playing rush. Conquest is a waste of my time. I just spent 10min running around chasing tanks with a rocket launcher lol. It was fun but I felt useless. I do work with a gun.
