I haven't had a decent PC since Battlefield 2 and my project this summer is to build a new rig to run BF3 in all it's glory. I'm confident DICE is going to deliver with this one. I can't wait for E3, I think that's where we'll get our first taste of multi-player.

Re: Battlefield 3
This sent a link to this vid in an email to me. The good old EA hype machine is at it again. lol. I'll wait for reviews from REAL people before I decide. Too many games coming out this Fall. Not a money thing but I just don't have time to play them all. I made that mistake before. I got games still in the cut I haven't finishedComment

Re: Battlefield 3
Another reason this sounds so promising for the PC more than those console to PC ports we have been getting...
Battlefield developer DICE have said that they believe consoles are holding back the development of PC games. In an interview on GeForce.com, executive producer on Battlefield 3 Patrick Bach said: "Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something. I don't know why. That was the truth 5 years ago, but the world has moved

In an interview on GeForce.com, executive producer on Battlefield 3 Patrick Bach said: “Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something. I don’t know why. That was the truth 5 years ago, but the world has moved on.” Read on for more details.
Bach explained that: “Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something. I don’t know why. That was the truth 5 years ago, but the world has moved on.” He says that PCs are much more powerful, hardware wise, than consoles, and few PC games truly take advantage of all that hardware.
He goes on to say: “So for our target of what we want to hit, we are now using the more powerful platform to try and prove what we see gaming being in the future rather than using the lowest common denominator, instead of developing it for the consoles and then just adding higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing for the PC version. We’re do it the other way around, we start with the highest-end technology that we can come up with and then scale it back to the consoles.”Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Too bad my PC can't run it lol, and the console ports won't do it justice. But this game just looks so beautiful, and even the sound is terrific.-Ohio State-

Re: Battlefield 3
Really?
The PC is without a doubt a superior gaming platform right now, but it's so far behind consoles in what people use as a gaming platform it would be suicide to make a game of this size PC only.
Niche games?...yes they can get away with PC only releases...
PC mods are quite simply AWESOME and consoles just can't compare. Not even close.

My question is, how realistic is it to play a game like this on a mac running windows through boot camp? Do you guys think itll have enough power to run this? I would be playing it on a new macbook pro. Seems like to really play the game as its supposed to I might need like a "gaming pc" or something.
should I just stick to the console?Comment

If you have the capability to play this on PC, then you should without a doubt play it on PC.
The outlook for mod tools is grim right now. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this though.Last edited by chadskee; 04-17-2011, 12:21 PM.

Re: Battlefield 3
I'm not knowledgeable about running windows with bootcamp but if it does work then I see no reason why a Macbook Pro wouldn't have the power to play Battlefield 3. Pro's tend to be pretty beefy in the specs.

That would be disappointing. There are some awesome modders out there.

Re: Battlefield 3
They didn't totally shoot down the idea, just said it wasn't planned as of yet. But like you said, I suspect it's a way to make more money on DLC. I really don't blame DICE though, this is all EA.
I highly doubt a macbook, or any non-top of the line laptop will run this game. I have a mid-range(used to be mid range anyway lol) gaming PC and there's no way I'll be able to run this game. Laptops aren't very desirable for gaming anyway, they have a lot more limitations than a custom built PC would have. But until we see recommended specs, there's no way to know for sure.
