With regards to spotting, do you only get points if you spot the person and they are killed? I was spotting last night and I would get the verbal confirmation but did not see the spot bonus pop up across the screen.

That's correct. Spot bonus only if the person spotted is killed.

As far as Op Metro conquest, the team that starts in the lower tunnel is at a distinct disadvantage, I ran from there straight to B and the other team had already capped it before I even got there.
With 1943 having a training tutorial you would think they would have included one in BF3.

I'm just now getting used to the chopper controls. I still have a hiccup sometimes, but for the most part I fly pretty well.

+1 on wishing you could practice up against bots (ala Combat Training in Black Ops or Killzone 3), and also use that mode as a 'flight school' to get over the learning curve without pissing off teammates or losing rounds.

I've only tried to fly twice because I see that it takes some real time to learn these birds and I just don't want to sacrifice objectives/games to learning to fly. I guess that I feel that makes me a bad teammate if I'm screwing around with trying to pilot on 'company time' as it were, when I should be advancing or guarding objectives and resupplying ammo.

And obviously from that statement, I'm taking this game too seriously? LOL

                    Re: Battlefield 3

I've started on both sides of the operation metro map and have been pushed back unable to gain point B and also have been able to push and gain point b, so I don't think any side has the advantage. I will say the winning side on conquest is normally the side that is able to gain point B first and hold it because that's the critical point on the map as it's very difficult to work your way back into the match as opposed to maps like caspian border, Norshir Canals, etc. where all the points are kind of equal, so holding one doesn't mean you'll have a chokehold over the others. But in respect to Metro, the battle hinges on B.

I like the variance in maps as it definitely forces you to adapt your play style according to the landscape of the map.

Instead you have players spending the entire match trying to fly a helicopter and jet and crashing again and again. I think this game needs a basic tutorial just to teach you the basics of how to fly, not to teach expert fighter pilots.

Time to play some devil's advocate in defense of randoms. Aren't we all randoms when we get into a game?

Everybody is doing their own thing in the game, thinking they are helping the team. If a random squad are full of "slayer" type players and they like going closer to the enemy spawn that leaves 8 players hopefully defending the Mcom. Let's say there are 2 snipers, a tank and a plane. The remaining 4 teammates around both Mcoms keep dying somewhere in the middle. That leaves what feels like just you. Guess what, you are one of the random players dying in the middle.

Ask any teammate after a Mcom explodes what they were doing and they will probably say the same thing. "Where the hell was my team?"

Granted a lot of players don't have situational awareness. Like the person that leaves without you while you were repairing the tank. A Team Talk type of communication would be nice and can alleviate most of this. Aside from that, some of my favorite matches are when I get into a random squad and we somehow have a cosmic connection, proceed to win and get the Ace Squad pin. General strategy and awareness will come with time. This game is still only a week old with a lot of new players still adapting.

I'm always doing Quick Matches. I tried to hook up with 65South last night and my connection weirdness just doesn't play nice when I try to go in with friends (in any game, not just BF3). So, wound up back in QM again. I'm a perennial 'random'.

I'm always hoping for a 'cosmic connection' as Chizz put it. Sometimes it DOES happen; great team play with no talking. Much of the time, not so much.

I love the support class, so my first thought is always resupply teammates in need, then capture/blow up/defend objective, and third is spot/suppressing fire. I'm never out running the map just for kills or hunting. Always trying to get to an objective and re-supply along the way.

I will switch to an engineer out of necessity if myself or the team is being atogonized by pesky armor, or sniper fire from distant windows behind an objective (Seine Crossing). RPG to the rescue! Then, back to support again.

I don't mind playing with randoms. I just get frustrated at times. Anyone that has played with me knows that I jump right into the action an kill. I'm impatent an I'm not going to stand next to the mcom waiting for people. Ima run around the mcom area killing everyone. When attacking I'll be the first one to dive an plant that explosive but before I do that ima quickly check the area an kill everyone so I'm not shot in the back while planting. That just my mindset an how I play. Also I don't spend much time in the vehicles. I rather shoot someone in the head.

Also I'm not going to lie, I do care about my kdr but not to the point where I become a non team player. I may keep a solid kdr but I'm usually number one in points too since I do drop health everywhere an I do revive everyone. What I'm saying is I feel im a great teammates who happens to care about his kdr.
