The biggest flops of 2010 so far

    1. Alan Wake
    2. Blur
    3. Prince of Persia: The forgotten sands
    4. Rock Band: Green Day
    5. Split Second
    6. Tiger Woods 2011

Explore the latest in gaming with expert reviews, news, and insights on gaming systems, video games, previews, rumors and more.

Really not surprised by this list. Blur & Split Second......2 racing games, for the most part people completely don't care about the racing genre anymore like they use to in the past.

Prince Persia....not surprised. Green Day .....people are about Rock Band'ed out by now. Tiger Woods....it's golf. Seriously I don't think any golf game put the sales charts a blazing.

I mean I never hear anybody talking about counting down to a golf game release or starting a who got it early thread about a golf game either.

Alan Wake just got over looked.

I enjoyed Alan Wake. It was repetative as hell, but the story telling was top notch.

Prince of Persia was a decent game in the series. Nothing ground breaking in it, and the fighting was a little weak, but good platforming, solid story, and excellent voice over work / direction. I think it failed because too many people thought it was a movie tie in game and those games usually suck. Fortunately (for those of us who played it), the game wasn't a tie in.

I forgot Green Day even came out, game sold terrible too.

Shame about Alan Wake, I really enjoyed it, but even I grew a little tired of it.

Well that would explain it then. Because I know for me, when RDR came out, that was my whole world for a month

Even my wife loved that game.

Now, I don't necessarily think those games would have done a ton better outside of May, but RDR certainly had an impact on the sales of other games. Lost Planet 2 didn't well at all either, and UFC sold less than half of what the previous game did (1.14M to 413.4K), which THQ blamed on RDR. It simply dominated the attention of gamers, and everything else was kind of an afterthought.

Something has happened with me and racing games, and maybe other people have had an similar experience: I love racing games, and I played as much of them on the original xbox as I did shooters, but the reason for that was that all my friends played them as well. On the 360, for whatever reason, no one on my friends list really plays racing games, likewise I don't buy them anymore.

That is definitely right, I know I would have bough Allan Wake and UFC but Red Dead had me hooked. I will still get Allen Wake, but I will wait until I can get it through gamefly. As far as the biggest Flop goes though, Rogue Warrior easily takes that spot. That game was supposed to be pretty decent, it had good coverage about a year prior and Bethesda made it.

Yeah same here. I use to love racing games but as soon as the PS3 came out its like I outgrew them.

yeah same. A buddy of mine recent bought NFS drift and i borrowed it, played it for about 20 mins and was bored with it. It was a fantastic game and looked amazing but for some reason they just don't hold my attention like old driving games did.

Maybe the new Gran turismo will change all that but i doubt it...

If you love racing games, the best racing games hands down is on the PC. But pretty much before I de-cluttered my friends list, damn near everybody on there was playing either Modernwarfare 2 or NBA 2K10.

I can't see how people play the same game all the damn time, day in and day out, EVERYDAY. Don't get me wrong, Modernwarfare 2 is a good game, but it is like once you prestige, the thrill is gone, for me anyway.

Same thing with sports games......I can't play the same sports game YEAR ROUND. I like variety and got to mix up my genres every once in a while or else I would get bored with it.

My thing is that whatever I'm playing, I just want a lot of friends to play it with. For me, going on a racing game and playing with 6 or 7 strangers is not fun. I want to be in a party with a room of 8 of my friends, trash talking and just having a good time. Thats what made PGR2 on the xbox so much fun, every time I got on, we had full lobbies of people we knew.

Correction, Bethesda published it. The dev team I think is the same one behind the AVP game this year.
