I would say the matchmaking and leagues in Starcraft 2, or the minimalism of Limbo.

Re: Best new gaming concept introduced in 2010?

Not this year but what I thought be a cool concept from an Idea I pitch awhile ago (Just copying and paste the thread posts, they are mine and others ideas):

I have always had a Idea for a WW2 RPG type game. Kind of like Oblivion/COD mix. Where they would start you off storming the Beaches but like set it up where you could talk to all you soldiers there. Of course their responses on the beach would be "Get the hell out of here" or "Are you ****ing Crazy, get down and shut up" Etc. Well one objective could be, Meet up with the Sergeant at the end of the beach. Well on the way up the Beach you would find fellow Comrades either hurt or Pinned down on the beach and you could choose to whether to help them or ignore them. When you get to the sergeant he would give you another Obj. like, Take this team and clear out the MG nests. Well while you do that, everyone on your team can die, and on thier side there would be no longer the unlimited enemies that come from no where. Thats just a section of my idea. If anyone has something they would like to add to it, be my guest. What you think?

          RPG element could be:
Well I was going to say that you have a Certain weight that you can cary and through your "Adventures" you can pick up different items like weapons and etc. It could also have a Fallout 3 like Perk system. I think all this would work beter in a Modern Combat type game. Where then you could find money and sell guns to a "Black Market" type NPC and get Upgrades and stuff to your Body Armor, Helmet, Guns, Etc. You would have a Strength skill for how much you could cary, Medic stat for restoration, Maybe something like a Repair skill for fixing you weapons, Etc. Not to mention an accuracy stat for each weapon type. In WW2 type game you would be able to secretly decide to kill your own squad and join up with the Nazis? There would be choices in the game that would decide the outcome, whether its WW2 choices like deciding to kill refugees or help them, whether to let people surrender or kill them, or whether to be a undercover agent to the Axis. The one thing I wouldn't know what to do with is what you could do about selling stuff and upgrading weapons. That would make more since in a Modern Combat type espect. It would be like Fallout 3 without Vats. First or 3rd person included.

Story twist could be that the Germans then turn against you, or the Americans seek revenge on you.

Maybe an Modern Combat type deal since there would be more to do and guns to choose from with people to sell.

Wasn't that like how the 1st Call of Duty was for the PC ? I swear I played WW2 games just like that on the PC.

Best concept so far is definitely the improved matchmaking through battlenet.

There were new gaming concepts this year?

Oh Backbreaker's pyhsics I suppose. That's the only one I can think of.

Not a new concept, but the best execution of a developing gaming concept, to me, was Red Dead Redemption's "completely living ecosystem/world."

The online mode with a twist in Demon's Souls (or was that 2009?).

Maybe ModNation Racers customisation and community sharing. While not new in general, certainly new for consoles and the masses.
