Blockbuster Online Games, DVD's and Blu-Ray Service

It's almost inspiring, the way that Blockbuster bravely marching on, despite such moves as boning total access and cutting back on its new movie purchases. And the latest bid for relevance? If you're receiving your, um, "blockbusters" via snail mail you'll soon be able to add your Xbox, PlayStation, and Wii games to the mix (and by "soon," we mean "now"). Ready to add the latest installment of Splinter Cell to your copy of The Bucket List? Well, you should probably get out of the house more. Or you can click the source link to get started.
Credit to Burns11 posting this in another thread, just wanted to make a thread for it also.

As a member of Netflix and Gamerang, I gotta say this is intriguing. You lose out on instant stream, but you do get in-store exchanges, plus I think you can bring them to a Blockbuster kiosk (The convenience store 100 feet from my house has one! Booyah!).

$19.99. for three discs (DVD, Blu-Ray and all current gen systems), plus you get a two week free trial. I'm signing up now just to see how it goes.

Anyone on here, that was using this service before this change?

The site is incredibly slow... Also, it seems none of the games are available just yet. All the release dates are in the future, even games that have been out for months.

It's probably getting hammered, it was actually down for a bit earlier.

For all my complaining about Gamefly, probably the only way it will get better is if Netflix started doing game rentals. I might try a free trial for blockbuster, but I have no faith in a company I started to hate a decade ago. It's an alternative though, and a high profile one, so maybe Netflix will respond in kind or Gamefly will take complaints more seriously and fix them.

Yeah, it totally is. If the site could run smooth, it would actually be set up pretty nicely.

I just signed up for the free trial a few minutes ago, and the site was running fine. Though I will probably cancel my subscription when the trial is over if new releases aren't going to be available sooner.

There is no way I'm going to pay for a service like this if the wait time for new releases(games) is going to be 3 months+. I was going to put Mafia II in my queue, but then I realized it wouldn't be available until like November/December.

Why are so many games not going to available now? Did the service just launch months too early? It says Madden 11 wasn't going to be available until Nov 11th.

I'm hoping this is just because they are new, to games at least. Once the orders actually get to them, I'd expect it to all update. If this is the norm, I'm gonna have to cancel.

If they get this straightened out though I'm done with gamerang, and would be done with Gamefly if I had it still. $19.99 for three discs is a good deal, IMO. I'm thinking I'll keep Netflix still though, streaming to 360 is just too good to pass up. For less than 10 bucks too.

$20 for three discs I would probably be done with Gamefly IF they can get the service right. My trepidation stems from Blockbuster's long history of screwing the customer. I don't think I've known anyone with a blockbuster card in 15 years and everybody who had one before then got rid of it because they charged some ridiculously unfair fees. First disc that comes broken are they going to charge my card $60? What if something is lost in the mail? Gamefly has been VERY fair about those sorts of things. I guess I'll wait and see how things shake out.

I worked for Blockbuster for like 7 months. I really think if they can do this right, they could steal the whole market for this type of service. They already have the big name, if the service matches Netflix and Gamefly, but in one package, common sense says to go with BB.

I think they would be wise to start a 4 and 5 disc plan too.

Good friend of mine in Cleveland had this (one of the test markets) and he is loving it. Could be huge for Blockbuster, especially if store exchange is included.

Man, I was thinking of starting up Gamefly again, but the shipping was slow when I had it previously so I haven;t gone back yet. If the shipping is better with this service, the I may jump on this deal.

I usually buy games and play them, but once I beat a game I don't play it much anymore. Even great games like Red Dead. This deal would really help me. Has anyone tried this yet, or is it active? I need some feedback!

Well I haven't got a game yet. I received 2 discs of Sunny in Philly, and that movie Losers. They took two days to get here, so that is pretty good. I'm gonna send them back Monday, hopefully I get a game to see how it works.

Let us knw. If you keep getting them within two days, then I will probably start a free trial up to see how fast I can get them. If I can get them within 2-3 days, I'll probably sign up.

NEtflix has to follow suite eventually... if so I'm all over adding $3 / month to include games too
