I live in a college town of about 25,000 and they explained to me that everyone comes in after 8 and grabs a number to wait in line. At midnight they call in 10 people at a time based on the number you got and once those 10 are done, another 10 go in. He said they had 477 for the last COD game and it only took 30 minutes to get through everyone.

I dressed up for a midnight release of the Show. Made my wife dress up too. It was a lot of fun. We were also the only people picking up the Show as some other major game was out that day too.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Every location is different as its up to the manager on how they do it. I've been to one location where they had pizza and drinks and did a trivia thing for the game being released (skyrim) and handed out prizes.
I've been to 5 different locations, big and small, and I've never been to one where they made everybody wait outside. Usually it's show up when you want, finalize the preorder, get a regular receipt, get inline and wait for midnight to get the line moving.
Now, I show up at midnight and get in line when its already moving and finalize my purchase when I get to the front. Some people have to earn their gamer cred though and have to be the first in line and wait for 2 hours or whatever. F-that.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Seeing commercials on TV only makes the wait more difficult. Like others have said.. I don't remember being more excited for a video game to be released.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
A couple of fun tidbits. First, the campaign - including all the side missions - should supposedly stretch past 100 hours. We knew Grand Theft Auto 5 was going to be big. Los Santos is the largest Grand Theft Auto map to date and it has "20 movies' worth of score" – and all of this adds up to 100 hours of gameplay across the campaign, side quests and back alleys of the city, Rockstar Creative Director Dan Houser tells The Guardian.
Next, as could likely be assumed, GTA V is the most expensive game ever made, checking in at $265 million, more than double that of GTA IV. They're expected to sell 25 million units in the first year and earn $1.57 billion. http://metro.co.uk/2013/09/09/gta-5-...llion-3955201/Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I pre-ordered my copy at a small town Game Stop. Anyone have any experience with midnight releases at non-big city locations? I've never done a midnight release and I kind of don't know what to expect. Does everyone just sit in their car until midnight? Will it be weird? Will I be ostracized for not being a hardcore gamer?
Depending on the area that you live at, it shouldn't be weird. I would have figured that there'd be a bunch of weird people at the Halo 4 release, but it was mainly just filled with college students and nerds.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus
