Only reason I'm even spending the full $60 is because this is Grand Theft Auto. I tend to wait for a $20 price drop at the least before buying non sports games.

There are eBay sellers who sell for 50-65 dollars. I know you could have bought an early copy of NHL 14 for 54 bucks.

The most I paid was 65 bucks for an early copy of halo, but that's only about a dollar more after tax if I were to grab it on release date.

I wouldn't even know until I was in that situation.

I have to work through Sunday, so if I got it early I wouldn't have much time to play...so I wouldn't pay much over retail. I am off Monday and Tuesday though, wish I could get it on Sunday afternoon, but at that point its not worth paying more when I'm already paying for the CE. I wish they'd let the CE pre-orders pick up early on Monday.

This seems to be the best video I've seen showing the size of the map vs IV.

Uncanny how that overhead view is the quintessential nostalgic look of GTA 1/2....ahh the memories.

Even typing out "Grand Theft Auto" (as opposed to GTA) brings back memories of the original on PC or Ps2. And here we are less than a week away from utter greatness, all originating from that masterpiece experienced over a decade ago.

In the interest of full disclosure, I played GTA 1 or 2 just once in my life. My teammate brought it to team camp in the summer of '01. We played it for a bit, couldn't jump over a bridge, then I decided I wanted to get back to NBA Live. Little did I know that series would creep back up later that fall in a big way. We went wild with GTA III that winter. It was, ah-hem, a game changer.

Grand Theft Auto III was released in the fall of 2001, not 2002.

I remember it like it was last week.

Can't even describe how mind blown I was when this game dropped. At the time, it was by far the most innovative game I'd ever played.

Oh weird, typo. I graduated in 2002, so definitely meant summer of 2001. My bad. That game was omnipresent my senior year. Non-gamers were all over it too. The squeal of the police sirens could even be heard in the background of our AP English video project.
