    Amnesia: The Dark Descent (PC)

Horror puzzle game LOVE THE ATMOSPHERE! most definite buy from me...its on Steam as well...preorder not up yet but its out next week

Welcome to the Amnesia: The Dark Descent website. Amnesia is a first person survival horror game for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It's out now!

The last remaining memories fade away into darkness. Your mind is a mess and only a feeling of being hunted remains. You must escape.

    Awake...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a first person survival horror. A game about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. An experience that will chill you to the core.

You stumble through the narrow corridors as the distant cry is heard.
    It is getting closer.

    Explore...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel's troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits.

A sound of dragging feet? Or is your mind playing tricks on you?

    Experience...
By using a fully physically simulated world, cutting edge 3D graphics and a dynamic sound system, the game pulls no punches when trying to immerse you. Once the game starts, you will be in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps, whatever happens will happen to you first hand.

Something emerges out of the darkness. It's approaching. Fast.

    Survive...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent throws you headfirst into a dangerous world where danger can lurk behind every corner. Your only means of defense are hiding, running or using your wits.

Do you have what it takes to survive?

Were those movies ever boring or what? The only horrifying piece in there were the number of boxes moved. Should be Amnesia: Forgetting How Many Boxes I Moved.

      8.5 from IGN

This'll be one of the first games I try when I get my new computer which will be capable of actually running it.

I downloaded the demo over the weekend and it's great. Has anyone played the retail version or any of the Mods?

          Nice bump.

None of the posters from 2 years ago came back to tell about the game. I guess no one had what it takes to survive it. One of them didn't even survive OS. This game must have a curse on it.

I have had it for a good while. Great game IMO. Certainly a different aspect with keeping sanity and survival by hiding etc..

I played the demo and didn't like it of course.
Wasn't feeling any tension or atmosphere. Was just really unintresting. Usual first person disconnection for me,storyline didn't help.

Re: Amnesia: The Dark Descent (PC)

Since the game doesn't give you weapons you feel very weak and scared from the start. You have to keep your sanity by lighting candles and making it to lit areas. If you spend to much time in the dark you start to lose your sanity and things start to distort and you start to breathe heavy. Your sanity can also be effected by seeing disturbing images.

I got creeped out by the first 20 minutes of the demo but I settled in after a puzzle or two. In the 2nd part of the demo
                    Spoiler

For $19.99 I will be downloading this ASAP and I hope to finish it before Amnesia 2 comes out. Amnesia: Machine of Pigs is coming early next year.

You can probably get it from the X-mas sale for $5. Heck there'll probably be a Halloween sale in a week or two and you can get it then.

That's the only reason why I didn't purchase it already. If it's not on sale soon then I will be forced to to pay $19.99.

Did you make it to the basement in the demo?

I don't remember. Wasn't into it at all. I remember sneaking into a broom closest or something like that and hiding while waiting for the monsters to take a certain path.

When you go with friends to a haunted house do you sound something like this:

"Don't worry that's not really Freddy Krueger. Freddy was played by Robert Englund and that's not him. That dude works at Target and his name is Brian".

I have no idea what you're on about. It's a stealth game? I'm not going to run into them.
