top PS3 FPS - is there a consesus?

I've never purchased an FPS but I'm thinking of getting one. I've looked at MAG, Modern Warfare, and Bad company but I have no way of knowing which game to choose.

Off the top of my head my biggest concerns would be continued online community support, tactical vs arcade style shooter, fun factor. Does the online community just die when a new FPS comes out or when a sequel is released? right now i'm playing Uncharted 2 and I don't see that community falling off anytime soon.

I'm a little confused about which game I should check out. Any ideas guys?

Uncharted 2/Killzone 2 are a dead heat imo.

Killzone 2 is such an underrated game. I have played it a lot lately, and there is never a feeling of frustration when you are killed. Unlike other FPS. People tend to write the game off way too quickly, because of the heavier controls, but I love them. There are still plenty of people playing also. The DLC is ridiculously cheap. Six Maps for 11.99. If I could only have one FPS it would be KZ2.

1a. Uncharted 2 (eventhough it is a Third-Person Shooter)
2. Bad Company 2
3. Call of Duty: World at War

So for a person who has multiple FPS games how do you decide which one to play or do you spend most of your time on Kill Zone 2? what exactly is it that you like about that game vs the others?

I have a lot of FPS games. Sometimes I will get burnt out on a game, and just play a different one for a while. When KZ2 came out I played it a lot for about four months. At that time others games came out, and I picked them up for a while.

In regards to KZ2, the graphics are the best I have ever seen in a FPS. I really like the fact that there are careers to choose. I like the game mode "Warzone" which is basically a best of seven series of four game types. There are a lot of ribbons/medals/abilities to learn. The controls take some time to get used to, but once you do they become second nature.

Killzone is a really good game.

My personal favorite is Bad Company 2.

The thing with Bad Company 2 is if you don't have good squad mates it can become completely frustrating to play.

I haven't played Bad Company 2 yet (though I did just order the Ultimate Edition), but I agree that Killzone 2 is one of the best FPS on the PS3. It's a ton of fun, looks beautiful, and I really like the controls. Hmm .. I think I might start getting back into it a little bit.

That's true.
When I played, it was with OSers, co-workers, or friends. If I couldn't find anyone to play with, it got aggravating sometimes. Team work is really important.

see i'm actually thinking that a game that makes you use more strategy or team work would be a nice contrast to the fast paced run and gun of uncharted 2.

Bad Company 2 or Killzone 2 would be a good pick then. You might be interested in MAG also. MAG is probably the most team oriented FPS for the PS3. I don't play with a mic, so I don't play it anymore, since most people just bitched about players not playing with mics. So, if you are a person who think using a mic is a necessity you might like it.

i'm a little hesitant to go for KillZone 2 as its already a year and a half old and a new game is coming out in Feb 2011. decisions, decisions.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. Richie we had some great games for a while. You, PJ, Caniac, Deft, etc. I can't think of another FPS I had as much fun playing when I played with fellow OSers. The thing with BFBC2 was, when the guys on my friends list stopped playing or got rid of the game all together, it made it that much harder for me to keep it as well.

Damn, we did have some good runs playing BC2. I can't think of many times where we took a loss.

Bad Company 2 and Mag hands down if you looking for large maps and team oriented game play. Modernwarfare series is plagued with boosters.
