    Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)

You might feel like you want to give up at times. Feel free to take a break from the game and come back to it later. I played a lot of demons souls so I picked this game up for ps3 and was forcing myself to like it. I did not enjoy it the first time. I gave up and sold the game and didn't think id go back to it.

A year later, XBL put the game on sale along with the dlc for 5 bucks a piece. Why not give it another try? This time it just clicked I was playing hours upon hours and even sucked in a couple friends in trying this game only to be just as addicted as I am. I believe it's on sale again this week for $5 on Xbox live.

I've read many people who did not like the game on their first time with it, but ultimately enjoyed it once they gave it another try. That's what I experienced personally. If it's not working for you, try it again some other time. The game is cheap now so it wouldn't hurt.

^Exactly. I got the game the week it released and I don't know what was up, but I just couldn't get into it.
I decided to give it another go a while back and was completely sucked into this amazing game.

I've been playing a lot lately and it's still one of my top 10 favorite games. Ever. It might be difficult at times, but Dark Souls is also incredibly rewarding. There's nothing like that feeling when you get past a tough area, boss, etc. that you died from multiple(possibly many) times.

I've been playing it most of the night, and I really like it. It takes a little bit to get used the difficulty curve and controls, but they clicked fairly well. I'm

I'm still on a first playthrough, only about 10 hours in and taking my time. I only play an hour or two a week as I try very hard to make some progress and feel so overwhelmed with my accomplishment that I stop for fear that I will be ultimately frustrated with the whole experience. I won't even consider going to next gen until I've completed this game (and most likely the sequal).

This title is staring me in the face.... Egging me to put it in my PS3.

I am the type that will obsess to complete it. I am going to have to accept the difficulty curve and just enjoy the game and take my time. I am the type of gamer who does not run through games.....so it may take me a good 6-8 months to even have a chave to beat this game.

Put some points into endurance as that'll allow you to perform more actions such as attacking, blocking, or dodging. Also if you're going to rely on blocking often, be sure to drop your shield in between attacks to let your stamina regenerate. The game is mostly about timing and it gets a lot easier once you learn what attacks enemies have and what the situation is when they throw those attacks. They throw certain attacks depending on how far/close you are.

Another tip. Pick one weapon you really like and stay with it. It helps in the long run really knowing your weapon in the later areas and boss fights.

Also upgrade said weapon as soon as possible.

Yup, just about every weapon can be used from start to end as long as you upgrade as you play through

I want to do a play through with the Uchigatana (sp?), but I always have second thoughts about killing that merchant in the Undead Burg.

You can get an uchigatana later on in the game, but there's no need to worry about killing that merchant. Just be sure to buy his essential items first such as the repair box and maybe repair powder.

Good to know. That was always my main concern. That I would kill him and need something from him at a later date.

If you've been putting points into dexterity or strength, just upgrade it down the normal path. The elementals aren't as good unless you don't have any points into dex or str.

Also, you're coming up onto an enemy soon that many have trouble on. Enjoy! You might know who I'm referring to as soon as you get there.

Nice, thanks. I'm going to start putting some points into Strength, as my Dex and Endurance are decent enough for right now.

                                Halberds are amazing
