Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
Just to show you the punishment and reward of the game. Some time after what you mentioned there is a boss on a bridge. I beat him first try because I used a certain strategy. I was so excited and pumped...and then within at least five minutes of beating him I died.....b4 finding a new bonfire....
I went from
to
However, there is a sense of satisfaction of being able to go through an area that once gave me trouble as the Grim Reaper...while at the same time one slip-up and I am done for. So I think in this game you aren't really overpowered after a while, you are just smarter with better equipment.
P.S. In demon's souls if you jumped up and turned off the console as you died you would start over alive right before that spot. This trick does not work for Dark Souls. Anyone found a new trick like that?Last edited by Spongedaddy; 10-05-2011, 07:17 AM.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
Wow..the fact that I missed that..haha. I need to start over then. I was reading that Pyromancer is the best class to play as...what classes are you guys using?
I am not sure I understand how to use the keys..example..I got 2 keys in the tut area..Before you jump down and kill the boss there is the knight you can fight to the right side. Even though I had 2 keys I am not sure if I selected the proper one in the menu to use it..anyway, that door was locked the whole time and it was driving me nuts. I am guessing that is where the merchant is.
I love the message system..that is genius..the fact that you can jump in and fight other players at some point is completely awesome. So far I am all about the game. I think I just accepted it is going to be super hard and adjusted from there.Last edited by Methlab; 10-05-2011, 07:58 AM.Comment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
I have so many questions I don't know where to begin.
1. So I have my Estus flask equipped as down on the d-pad. How do I actually use it in game? Everytime I hit down on the d-pad it just circles through items. I have to resort to going into the inventory system to use it which is just about impossible in the middle of a fight.
2. Is there a FAQ anywhere to tell me what all the numbers for the weapons mean?Comment

Hitting down on the D=pad simply changes which equipped item is ready for use. Hit the (PS#) square button to use it...what is that the X button on 360?I have so many questions I don't know where to begin.

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
I can actually answer a question. The X button (square) will use whatever is in the down arrow slot. You basically HAVE to use that ebergy or you will not progress barely at all in the game.
I would love to get ideas on which class to start with. The wanderer is OK and I know I can level up later and it won't matter as much, but I would love to be able to shoot projectiles. I just may not be fighting that efficiently with the wanderer because his shield kind of blows and the scimitar I got had to get repaired pretty early in.
Does the pyromancer shoot projectiles? Or is it better to use a hunter with a bow?Comment

I found a great wiki for some useful information here:

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
IMO it is a more refined game. I have been in a particular spot for about 2 hours. I make it to a certain spot X and then some monster hit me as I was close to an edge and I fell to my death. Each time it gets a little bit easier to make it to spot X. It really is an incredible game, but if you don't have the right perspective it will easily frustrate you. I loved Demon's Souls, but like this one better because of how polished it is.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Dark Souls (PS3/360)
This nails it. so far I am really having fun. If I ever get super mad, I would just take a break and come back to it a week later or something. It is the type of game you keep, and don't try to beat in a month to trade in for something else.Comment

You can "use" the undead souls and they'll give you souls. I think the large one is 800 and the small 200. Don't use the boss souls though.Comment
