    X-Men: Destiny

Not much info, but Silicon Knights lives.

    IGN

With New York Comic-Con officially upon us, the announcements have begun. Among the first is that Activision is teaming with Silicon Knights for a brand new X-Men game called X-Men: Destiny. No platforms and no genres were announced in Activision's statement about the title.

"The all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny," the vague release said.

While I know it is probably never going to happen...

A mutant open-RPG ala Fallout-style would be awesome.

Hmm, on the PC section of IGN, new MMO perhaps? Sounds intriguing.

          A little more info

Though Activision hasn't announced which platforms Destiny will appear on or what genre the game will be, the publisher revealed that the title will ship for multiple consoles next fall. It's also disclosed that Mike Carey -- writer for graphic novels like The Unwritten, Hellblazer, and X-Men: Legacy -- will pen Destiny's storyline.

I'm going to guess it's an X-Men Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance style RPG, I could see the Too Human gameplay style hybridizing well with the Legends style.

I hope it's like this. I just hope it's a little smarter and more strategic than MUA. Those games were fun as arcade type button mashers but the replayability gets old. I'd like to see a game where you actually had to use some defense once in awhile. Will definitely keep my eye on this though.

From what I have read about this game, you create your own mutant I think?

I dont really like this idea. I hope to play as an already existing mutant.

                    Re: X-Men: Destiny

I didn't even know this game existed till a few weeks ago. I decided to go back on XBL and get the download content for MUA2 before the end of the year when it is gone forever.

This in turn had me going to Gamefaqs to read about the new characters and I saw people posting about this game.

Not so hijack the thread but I forgot how much fun MUA2 was, I'm wrecking with Juggs, Deadpool, Cable, & Magneto.

So is this game going to be like X-men Legends, MUA, MUA2?

                      Some Details

In the action-RPG X-Men Destiny, you control the fate of a new mutant in the X-Men universe. Every choice has a consequence, as your destiny is determined through the decisions you make as you advance through the game. Play as one of three new characters in X-Men lore, each one of whom must come to terms with his or her unique background and powerful mutant identity while uncovering the truth behind an **** event that threatens to tear apart the tenuous peace between humanity and mutant kind. Evolve and customize your core mutant powers with an opportunity to earn and equip "X-genes" to expand and alter your power base. Choose which path to take in key moments that impact your story and how other characters respond to you. Fight alongside and against famous mutants from the X-Men comics, including Wolverine, Cyclops, Emma Frost and more. Will you choose to follow the teachings of the X-Men to unite mutants and humans, or will you usher in a new age of mutant domination with Magneto's Brotherhood? YOU decide.
                      • Choose from three different characters to play, all with unique history and personalities
                      • Define and evolve your own X-Men mutant through choice and customization
                      • Align with either the X-Men or the Brotherhood of mutants
                      • Select, expand and enhance your powers as you customize your abilities and earn upgrades
                      • Your decisions shape the story and change the world around you
