Recommend me a good RTS game for consoles.

Starting to get cold outside and usually during the colder months I love playing RTS games and role playing games.....

I got the role playing games covered. What I don't have covered is a really good RTS game. Anybody play R.U.S.E ? Is it good ? Worth getting ?

I played the demo, it was pretty good but the demo is limiting. I browsed various websites message boards and it seems as though not many have the game.

So is there some sleeper hits I might have missed out on that came out ?

Halo Wars IMO is the perfect console RTS game. The control sceme is perfect.

I played Ruse and its more like a Board Game strategy then an actual RTS. Lots to do and more or a tactical system.

Battle for Middle Earth 2 was fun but controls were wacked out. However im a huge LOTR fan so it was awesome.

C&C on consoles were really, really, really wierd IMO. Tiberium was fun though.

Civ Rev was great IMO, I played that alot.

I got Civ Revolution, it's not that fun, they watered it down way too much for my liking. I never did like C&C, could never get over the weirdness factor.

I guess I will have to give Halo Wars a try, even though I been reading a lot and a good number of hardcore RTS fans refuse to call Halo Wars an RTS. I will have to look into Battle for Middle Earth 2.

I just like RTS games, where you lead an army or civilization and just conquer people through wits or pure numbers.

Too bad there's not a lot of hope to get Age of Empires on a console. It's one of the few RTS I like.

I will second Halo Wars, it's very well done. I know that in "the RTS crowd" it's frowned upon, and there are some legitimate reasons for that. However, for a console RTS, I don't think you can do much better. Controls are great, take a bit of getting used to but they are better than any other console RTS I've played. The pop cap is 40, not 200 like in some other RTS, so games typically don't last more than 30-40 minutes and that's a generous estimate.

Another game I would recommend is Supreme Commander 2. I got this game late in the spring and had a lot of fun with it. Three different factions, pop cap of 200 (with no framerate drops, seriously I don't know how they pulled this off) and some absolutely awesome units and buildings, this is as close to a PC RTS game as you can get on a console. The control scheme is similar to Halo Wars, and some time with the tutorials or a few single player missions will easily acclimate you to the controls. I'm pretty there's a demo out for Supreme Commander 2, so you should check that out. If you're big on story, the one in this game is pretty lacking. I didn't care too much about that though, I spent most of my time in skirmishes against the CPU (though I did beat the single player with all three factions).

by the way, I don't know if you ever played any of the Total Annihilation series, but the Supreme Commander series is the "spiritual successor" to TA.

I downloaded the demo and it was good. Since Walmart didn't have in store, I ordered it off their website for $14 brand new. Quite a steal actually since Target still have it at $59.99 and Best Buy got it for $20. I believe Gamestop selling for around $40.
