The Cursed Crusade (Atlus - Demon Souls maker)

This game will be published by Atlus, the ones who brought us From Software's Demon Souls! And this looks to be in the same style (Action RPG) as that game as well. So fans of that game or game type are in for a treat it appears!

It looks absolutely gorgeous, and the animations and swordplay look very well done and very precise. The impale actually looked like an impale, and not a cheap "clipping" (I am looking at you Assassin's Creed developers).

It is coming for the PS3, 360, and PC Summer 2011

Knights, whether they are Jedi or Medieval doing some bad *** sword/saber play is always exciting and can get you going!

Some of that two handed sword play and fighting multiple enemies looked AMAZING. So fluid and choreographed like a movie. If that translates seamlessly into game like the video suggests with the in game shots of it, that would be sick!

Ok, this game has absolutely nothing to do with Demon's Souls. Also, other than picking up the game to publish in NA after the fact, Altus had nothing to do with Demon's Souls.

Not to further dampen enthusiasm, but Kylotonn is a horrible developer, best (barely) known for games that look good but play like warmed over repetitive ***.

And who is to say Atlus did not see the same qualities in this game as they saw in From Software with Demon Souls?

The video looked fantastic, and the gameplay in it looked sick. I will be watching this with an open eye, regardless of track record. There have been plenty of developers in the past that made so so games, and turned out a good one eventually.

P.S. I will edit the title, cause I should have said Publisher.

Please don't pee in my Wheaties of hope that there can be a good Templar/Crusades game to come out!

There is a demo up on the PSN... quietly snuck in.

Gonna give it a DL and see how it is! Anyone who tried it, please feel free to leave impressions.

                4/10 from eurogamer

Swords and sorcery combine to depressing effect in another Templar themed hack and slasher, but poor control and sticky combat prove more deadly than any enemy

Gonna give the demo a go, still may be worth a rental from GameFly.

So I tried the demo. Looks decent, the fighting is pretty cool, even if the same stabbing animation happens over and over. Low framerate, but the weapon and gear design is pretty cool looking.

Definitely not a purchase, but I guess it could be a rental. The whole forcing you to shoot your crossbow mechanic though can get annoying.

Definitely an action game with equipping gear. Not an RPG.

Little overview on Kotaku... game is a budget $39.99, but seems to be worth a rent at least... I am just gonna pass because there is too much on my plate.

Ugly, Brutal, and Strangely Satisfying, The Cursed Crusade Hits Me Where It Hurts

                          http://kotaku.com/5848779/ugly-bruta...where-it-hurts

Necessary roughness A little-known title from an unproven developer being released at the budget price of $39.99, The Cursed Crusade doesn't seem to have a lot going for it, but in the ringing of an iron mace against an enemy's plate-covered head, I found promise.

Set in the time of the fourth crusade, The Cursed Crusade follows a pair of unlikely heroes (they're never likely) as they travel across Western Europe, seeking answers to familiar questions and a means to rid themselves of a curse that has death nipping at their heels. The story is an odd mix of the historical and supernatural, much like the strange combination of the holy Templar Denz and the Spanish scoundrel Esteban, polar opposites bound by a common cause.

Though you wouldn't know it by the way they fight.

I've not been engaged by the story of The Cursed Crusade. If anything the horrible voice acting and sloppy graphics are actively trying to push me away from Kylotonn Games' creation. It's the damn fighting that keeps pulling me back.

This isn't a game about dancing about your opponents, performing outrageous acrobatic maneuvers while slicing effortlessly through layers of impenetrable armor. This is a game about cold iron against steel. It's about slow, deliberate movements. It's about killing one foe and moving onto the next with a brutal efficiency. If you want to take down a fully armored foe with a mace, you're going to have to beat that armor off his body before getting to the soft, chewy center...
