I may end up getting this as I enjoyed the first one on the Wii. However I will wait until I can read some impressions NFL Training Camp.

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
I've played both for Kinect now, EA Active 2.0 and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.
There's just something off with EA Active, it's not nearly as concise a workout as Your Shape IMO. The controls are also sketchy. Several times they'd tell me to squat, but I already was.
Mountain Biking and Dodgeball were easily the most annoying two with this. Moutain Biking was one I just gave up on, it was frustrating and annoying. You have to run to pedal the bike up hills. I would run and run and the bike just sat there. Dodgeball, it never registered a single jump I made. Very disappointing.
Also, it lost me 4 times in one workout, meaning I had to re-calibrate. That was annoying. Also the "iPod" would come up interrupting my workout, where I had to grab a controller and press X to remove it, that happened 5 times. Couldn't find any option to turn the ipod off except turning music completely off. Very annoying.
The web intergration is outstanding and better than Your Shape, but that's not what draws me to a fitness "game".
If I had to score both, I'd give Your Shape an 8, and EA Active a 6.5. The Wii version was better IMO.
Just out of curiosity, is it possible that your kinect is not setup correctly?Comment

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
Hmmm definitely not what I wanted to hear for an impression especially after shelling out $100 on Active 2. I exchanged my kinect for a bundled 360 + kinect so that I can have an additional system and the space to make it work. I am more curious to get my copy this Friday just to see for myself first hand.

Now this morning, a day after using Kinect, I feel more burn than I ever did with Fitness Evolved, and that's a good thing.
I'm going to keep using both, just after using how incredible the response is when playing Fitness Evolved, it's a let down playing EA Active.
Also, EA, come on, could have at least updated the graphics instead of spruced up Wii graphics. Easily one of the worst looking games on the 360/PS3.Comment

Trust me, my Kinect is set up fine. The game just isn't as responsive as other games out there.

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
I'm sure we will eventually get ours up (need to procure a copy first). The thing with this title is that there are workout programs in it -- I think they push a 9 week program with this series. So we would need at least a week or two with it before reviewing most likely.Comment

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
Got this today for the PS3...really surprised how much depth it has.
We had a baby six months ago, so I've hardly done any exercise since he was born. Gave this a spin for an hour today and am tired now. Feels good though
Any idea which program / level to start on? I want a bit of discipline,so i am going to use one of the programs it has.Comment

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
My brother got Active 2.0 tonight for Kinect.
He had no issues with moutain biking.
Some of the stretches. It would have you stand straight then put your right leg out, stetch, and then come up and stand on one leg. Now if you come down with that leg and move it to the right a little bit to get your balance then it acts as if you moved the wrong leg. So once you go down to the left it will read as if you were going to the right. So you just have to stand up straight again and then go back down. Once you find that the software on active 2.0 is being more percise and not as loose in reading motion (Kinect Sports).
My sister in law on the dodgeball stuff wasn't jumping high enough so it only registered her as slightly jumping off the ground. Then we told her to jump up higher or kick her feet up in the back. As soon as she did that she was jumping the dodge balls.
It was pretty cool seeing both my brother and sister in law sweating as well as saying that they felt pretty good too.
My brother is using his own resistant bands. His wife was using the ones that came with the game since it wasn't as much resistance.
After playing around with both fitness games briefly and watching my brother and sister in law play both, I'm personally going to get EA Active 2.0.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
The PS3 version is like the 360 version, there's no controller. I believe you wear 3-4 sensors that are picked up by the game. It's not a Move game, so you don't need the camera or controller at all.
@DXZeke I don't know what it is with our area, wife tried it again tonight and just had the hardest time with any of the stuff really fully registering. That and that stupid music player always popping up interrupting the game. I like Active, loved it on the Wii, just disappointed so far with it. Maybe I'll grow to like it more, I actually hope so as it does give such a good workout. Just, for me, a frustrating one.
Thanks for the tips on dodgeball. And with mountain biking it was only going up hill that it wouldn't register me running to pedal it, no clue why, tried it 3 times. UGH. LOL I even got worried that maybe the Kinect was off calbiration, but the wife tried Your Shape again and had zero issues.
Thanks again.Comment

Interestingly I played a round of Adventure (reflex) or whatever the mode is called. It was not picking up my jumping or ducking. I moved my couch out of the picture and immediately it was registering all of my moves almost instantly. I have my kinect sitting back at the bottom of my TV which is located on a large stand. The kinect is about 2 feet back away from the front edge of the stand. I also read that for games such as Active 2, some may need to move the kinect forward so that it can see over that lip or you need to exercise further back.
If you get time, could you check this out as my copy is still not set to arrive until tomorrow?Last edited by Rules; 11-18-2010, 09:33 AM.Comment

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
I read a few impressions yesterday on various sites. An EA rep said that if your couch is within the 6-8 foot range that it could easily be picking that up since it is a large object. Yesterday, I put my new Kinect in a larger room and noticed that it required a patch. Not sure if it was a placebo effect but it seemed that the motion controller was very accurate and much faster to the point of almost zero lag from my movements.

Too many things with Active worries me over the long haul, like if the heart beat sensor dies.
Oh yeah, and an annoying thing is the Kinect version doesn't have basketballIt's only on PS3 and Wii. While Dodgeball is only on 360. I would have rather had it the other way around, basketball was fun on EA Active 1.

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
I keep going back and forth on whether to open up my purchase or not. I think I'll try Your Shape first as I'm not even 100 percent sure I'd keep up with a video game style workout. I loved the demo of Your Shape that came on Kinect Adventures, but the sample was too brief as it only gave you one exercise.PSN: sportdan30

Re: Kinect EA Sports Active 2.0
On the PS3 bro, controller only needed for the menus etc.
Once the exercises begin, it's just you and all the monitoring stuff...pretty cool
I did some of the stretching exercises + a run...really solid stuff.
I also did one of the basketball boot camps...man I am out of shape!
I am going to start one of the programs today...i think i'll do the 3 week one first and then the 9 week one after it.
I haven't tried out 99% of it yet...there's a hell of a lot of depth. Really looking forward to the boxing stuff etc.
Only flaws so far = menus are poor and the music sux. Very easy to put your own music in though on PS3, which I've already doneLast edited by Court_vision; 11-18-2010, 05:16 PM.Comment
