Chrono Trigger/Cross: What happened to this beloved series?

Loved these games man. Absolutely loved them.

The gameplay, the story, the music. EVERYTHING. These games were fantastic!

With that being said, what happened to the series? Was it just dropped?

It wouldn't make sense as I always thought that the games were successful and received superb ratings.

I've been dying to play some Chrono Trigger/Cross on this generation of consoles. Hell, I'm just now realizing while thinking about it that they didnt even release a game for the last generation of consoles either. Chrono Cross was on the FIRST Playstation.

    Whats the deal?

If a new Chrono game were to come out on this gen, I'd be there day one. I wouldnt even have to think about it or see a preview or a review or even a screenshot. Easily my favorite RPG's of all time and two of my favorite games of all time.

If you haven't yet, pick up Chrono Trigger on DS. It has all the animated scenes from the PSone release (minus the awful load times) and a new translation that fills some gaps and makes things a little clearer.

That being said, the second one wasn't all that great to me. Not sure what it was, it just didn't have "it".

Never played the original, but I did purchase the DS version. Loved it.

          I hated Chrono Cross.

          Loved Chrono Trigger.

Pretty much the big wigs at Square said if there was such a demand for a sequel people would've bought more games.

I'm the opposite of most people. I though Trigger was O.K., but I thought Cross was one of the greatest games of the time.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I didn't hate Cross like some, but Trigger is among my favorite games of all-time.

I'd be right in line if another one ever came out, though at this point I think it's just a relic of a bygone era.

Nope, heard of them (mostly good things), but that and the Persona games have passed me by, the latter mostly because I read there was a tremendous time investment necessary.

Sorry to keep this thing off-topic, but there is a new Golden Sun on the DS that just came out 2 weeks ago.

Chrono Trigger is easily one of the best action RPGs of its time. One of the best stories. Chrono Cross was good too but Trigger stands out more for me.
