    Mount and Blade: Warband

I discovered this gem while looking through cheap games on Steam the other day.

It's a realistic medieval warfare simulator. It's a sandbox game in which you begin as a lone wanderer and can work your way up to a king. It's completely open-ended and you can play it any way you wish. If you like knights, castles, and all kinds of armor and weapons this is a game you should check out.

I rarely play games for 4 or 5 hours in a single sitting, but I've been staying up until 3 or 4 AM playing this thing. I'm trying to build my mercenary warband into a strong enough force to assault a castle. I've been helping what is essentially the Mongols fight an Arabic nation and last night joined them in a castle siege. It was pretty darn cool pumping crossbow bolts into the defenders and charging up a ladder with my battle ax.

Check it out at www.taleworlds.com. I haven't been this addicted to a game since The Show.

PS: From what I understand there are a ton of great mods, like Star Wars and LOTR.
