Attn OS Mods (Especially BDoughty) or anybody with TV-to-Computer Help

Okay, the title doesn't cleary explain what I'm trying to do. My apologies if this is not the right forum to discuss this.

Anyways, this is about hooking my TV up to my computer while my PS2 games (mainly Madden and NCAA) are being played so I can take snapshots or make mpg movies. Well, recently I got my desk, and tonight I can finally re-hook my computer back up. I'm studying to be a website designer. Well, if you know about Jervey and his football site, then you know what my first good website will be about. I was in Wal-Mart the other day and found this periphreal (sp?) device. This device has 3 different connections.

    The connections are as follows:
    Red-White-Yellow connections
    S-Video connection
    Coax-In and Out connections.

Well, I want to be able to plug in my cable, then send it out to my TV since all it has is a Coaxial Connector and the Red-White-Yellow connections, but no S-Video. So I hook the cable up to my tv through the modulator. Then I plug in my PS2 to the Modulator. Then I plug in my Computer to the S-Video. I have a GForce 4 video card. I want to be able to view my TV on my computer while a game is being played, and take snapshots.

So will the device I found at Wal-Mart allow me to do this? If it at least allows me to view whatever is playing on my TV, that is good. If that is all it allows me to do, what software do you recommend that I get to make picture quality graphics?

Programs I have on my computer:
    Fireworks MX
    Photoshop 7.0

    Dreamweaver MX
    Flash MX
    Frontpage 2000

I don't think Fireworks or Photoshop will allow me to do an image capture, so any suggestions on what to do?

The reason I ask, is because OS do create snapshots of games, and also create movies. Just wondering if you could spare some help or point me in the right direction of who to ask. I've already sent an email to Best Buy hoping they could help out as well.

Thanks for all the help if you can spare it.

Will have to leave this one to Steve as I have never captured from a TV, just from a camcorder using Dazzle. He and Peter_OS do it all the time.

Fireworks will not work capturing the feed that I am aware of as you need a video editor (they usualy come pre packaged with Dazzle and capture cards).

make sure on the back of that thing, some of the connection's are OUT, and not just IN.

The adapter/ thing you are looking for looks like a cable modem, right?

That should work. If you've got a VCR setup, you should just use the feed (RCA-red,yellow,white) from the adapter and run it back to your VCR (OUT button).

By pass everything else, just use one set of connections and it should work ok.

                Thanks guys.

My bad BD. I got you and Steve mixed up, lol.

Anyways, I also saw this different connector for the PS2 at walmart. It's made by MadCatz (sp?). It's the same as the RCA red, white, yellow connector that the PS2 comes with originally, however, instead of an RCA connector at the end, it has an S-Video connector.

Well, I checked the back of my CPU and looked atthe Video card connections. the S-Video connection is labeled "TV/Out". I am taking that as whatever shows up on the Monitor of my computer, will display on my TV. However, I want to display my TV on my CPU Monitor.

That product I described earlier does look similiar to a cable modem Wally. So do you think it will allow my TV to be viewed on the computer screen?

I'm pretty sure that adapter will work.

I'm pretty sure it somehow uses the USB port and cables to transfer whats being fed from the adapter to the TV.

It basicially takes the signal from the VCR or whatever other device you got setup and transfers it to the ADAPTER(cable modem lookin' thing). The USB cable then transfers what was being shown on the VCR through the adapter and onto the computer.

I think thats how it works.

I would personally just buy a video card with a TV IN plug.
