Lost Souls with 6 fights against intentionally over powered/super cheap characters.

Oh there's also quick battle mode which is an offline simulated online battle and if you win you get their title so you can display it online. Such wonderful titles as "Farting Baron".
can we still buy those demos like in SC, SC2, SC3, SC IV where do they demonstrate their style of martial art, those were always sick to watch

I'm by no means a fighting game expert, but I picked up SC4 a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It's the only fighting game (not counting WWE All-Stars) that I own. So I was pretty pumped for SC5.

First impression: Meh. Hard to put my finger on it, but it doesn't feel fleshed out compared to SC4. Feels very incomplete to me. I've only played for about an hour so far, but right now I'm really wishing I had just stuck with SC4.

So AI only matches is available? It wasn't in SCIV so I was wondering... thanks.

Nope. No shop. Nothing to buy. No art gallery either.

Played through arcade mode on asia tour for the sake of the achievement. Picked Raph,he kept mentioning Amy in his win quotes who isn't even in the game and because there's no scenes I have no idea what happend to her. Most of the characters aren't even in story mode.

I should also point out the game is much faster now and there seems to be some major balance related problems and it's less likely to be able to throw someone off a block now. A lot of people aren't going to notice but if you're trying to play on hard or anyone decent online, yah. This mixed with the super attacks really hurt the gameplay a lot. The block meter isn't effective either. You get one good hit,if that. It might be ok if armor broke off there but it seems the only way for that to happen is to win the round with a break hit. Speaking of armor it no longer has any boosts. Just visual now.

Having beat arcade mode on hard and Tekken HARDARA in quick battle I had nothing left to do. So I kept poking through quick battle. What's different in this mode compared to say Tekken 6 or VF 5 versions is you don't get anything intresting. You get their title. Nothing else. You don't get their outfit or even a piece of it,you don't get gold or orbs, you don't even advance in rank offline. I'm still an E5 beginner despite beating the special boss and A class characters. Which brings me to the next point, there's simply no progression at all. You can just go right in and fight A's if you want. That Tekken/Devil Jin style was annonying to fight,I don't know if humans can do it but there's an uppercut juggle that'll take half your health. Of course it has the lasers. Though I'd be more concerned with Cervantes gun which in arcade mode was really fast and unblockable.

This game has no offline value and the core gameplay isn't as good as previous versions.

Forgot to mention when you switch styles in story mode there's some really cheap spammable attack. I don't know what it is the AI was using it. Though it wasn't much help for them, probably help lots in story. Not that anyone should be playing this awful game anyway. But if you insist on suffering through it that might help.

The game is devoid of content and has next to no value what-so-ever. Incredibly short and poorly told story which as also pointed out by IGN is 90-95% told through pictures with voice overs which btw you can't use customized characters for. Making it worse yet is when you switch styles half way through he's trash after the switch. Went through the first half only losing one round by ring out, lost at least one in every fight since. Less than bottom tier. I don't even know if these are Sophita's kids or Cassandra's. Nothing is explained.

On top of that there's NO arcade mode beginnings or endings which is made 1000000x worse by the fact most of these characters are new which directly goes back to the lack of explanations here.

You unlock custom parts by leveling up but as I just stated there's no use for them because there's no content, there's nothing to play for. This should be a 400 point arcade game. Complete joke to ask $60 for this. I only rented this otherwise I'd be kicking down Namco's door for a refund. In fact it should be under indie games for 240 points because there's $3 indie games with more in them than this, hell there's probably $1 indie games with more.

AND the gameplay has taken a significant step backwards because of these super moves.

This is exactly what I was getting at in the topic about the possibility of there not being rentals next gen. The complete lack of value should automatically knock 5 points off of any review score.

I'm not sure if it's a story mode thing because there's usually a AI gets super powers type deal in fighting games but if it's not story exclusive online will be crap too because Siegfried is wwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyyy over powered.
Your review of this game makes no sense.

Why did you slander having supers in the game? Is it because it's a new feature, you can't stand change (BTW SCIV had a slow, clunky *** gameplay).

KoF, other SNK games were notorious for AIs being more powerful than they should, hence the "SNK Boss Syndrome". Why are you complaining about hard AIs? Do you really want an AI that's easy, that won't provide any challenge?

You know what I think about when you slander SCV so much, I think you don't like the game. You simply never had a good impression, you played it, you wanted to nitpick as much of how bad SCV is as possible. Did you not go online and play against other people? Did you not try Character Creation Mode?

You know you shouldn't have bought the game in the first place since you hate it so much.

              Re: Soul Calibur V

Because SC was never about supers. Supers in general are left out of 3D fighting games. Also they're very poorly implemented. Some do 50% damage and some do 20%. Some can't be blocked. Then there's the range factor. Astaroth for example is a long range character but he has an extremely short range super. I don't mind change when it's for the better but this was terrible.

I wasn't complaining about hard AIs. I said the character was quite poor in the 2nd half of the story. What I did say was if the human version of Siegfried was near capable of AI Siegfried then online would suck...also goes for Devil Jin style. He wasn't even hard,he just did massive ammounts of damage when he did hit including nearly wiping out my entire bar in one combo which resulted in that previously mentioned one loss before the switch. Regardless there's a difference between challenge and cheap.

Yes I did check out character creation. I made Harley Quinn. I have nothing to do with her. You may have also noticed I said you can't use your customized characters in story which means I tried for at least story characters as well.

You think I don't like the game? Gee was it that obvious? No I don't like the game and no I didn't have a good impression.

If I was nitpicking I'd have mentioned you can only have 60 second rounds and not ∞.
I'd mention the odd menu controls.
I'd mention the color shades being off in character customization.
If you want nitpicking I'll show you nitpicking. (Says 2005 but you must be new here. )

Well no I didn't play online. I don't play online. I don't need to play online to know they'll quit the second they're about to lose. Not to mention fighting game + online = lag = . Would've helped to check my gamercard and see I'm silver.

I didn't buy it. I rented it. Because I was expecting to be just a story/arcade story and it wasn't going to be worth buying but I didn't even get that much.

I'm pretty sure I saw one of the quick battle oppoents with his sword and there is a quick battle oppoent that's named Hwang but they use Devil Jin style, there's no style for him and he's not in the game.

Apparently nothing happens when someone quits online,no win for you and no loss for them.
