    Metro: Last Light

    PR

Return to the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow in the sequel to 2010's cult hit, Metro 2033.

THQ today announced that the hugely anticipated sequel to 2010’s multiple Interactive Achievement Award finalist, Metro 2033, is scheduled for release in Calendar 2012, for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

Metro: Last Light will immerse the player in the haunting, desolate ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, one of the most richly detailed, and beautifully realised gaming worlds of modern times. Developer 4A Games will deliver a terrifying, atmospheric single-player adventure that fuses thrilling combat with exploration and survival horror to create a unique, memorable experience.

"We believe that Metro 2033 was a flawed masterpiece," said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. "It was a beautiful, original game that didn’t get the marketing support it needed. We won't make that mistake with Metro: Last Light. This game improves on the original in every way – it will have more polish, deeper and more sophisticated gameplay, and satisfyingly visceral combat, without losing what our fans loved about the original. Metro: Last Light is another artful piece of game development from an Eastern European studio that will thrill and terrify anyone looking for a more cerebral experience than your typical first person shooter."

Metro: Last Light pitches the player into the midst of a desperate civil war for control over a doomsday device that threatens to destroy humanity forever. The **** single-player campaign and unique multiplayer experience will benefit from the extraordinary lighting, physics and destruction made possible by the Metro: Last Light bespoke 4A Engine technology.

Metro: Last Light will be unveiled to the public at this years’ E3 Convention with a live gameplay demonstration.

    CVG Preview

But as the publisher will tell you first, it wasn't perfect; namely the weapons didn't feel very satisfying, the AI needed schooling and it spent about 2 quid and a packet of pork scratchings marketing the thing. THQ intends to fix all three bullet points.

Anymore news on this game? Looks really interesting. Won't buy it on release, but perhaps sometime in the future.

This would be one of those games I would want to play on the PS3 before jumping onto the PS4.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

                Re: Metro: Last Light

Adam Sessler and Tara Long managed to get their hands on an early build of METRO: LAST LIGHT, which recently survived the collapse of THQ and is slated for release in May from new publisher Deep Silver. Does the atmospheric shooter hold promise, or are Adam and Tara unimpressed by their time with the game?

Is there a 3rd person view on it? Looks interesting, but I don't do FPS. Would love it if they would go with a 3PS.

Nah, it's FPS only. I'm usually the same way regarding FPS but every now and then one catches my eye and tempts me to give it a try.

Bought a new graphics card last week and they threw this game in for free. Should I play Metro 2033 first or does it matter?

Anybody have any thoughts about the pre order exclusive of "ranger mode"? I hear there's an uproar from gamers about this mode costing 5 extra dollars for guys who buy the game without a pre order, even though the content is on disk anyway.

I rented it on 360,thought it was wasted potential. The feel/atmosphere and story are amazing but wasn't a fan of the mechcanics at all. Apparently it's a Crysis level beast to run on PC. (As mentioned in the video above.) It's available for $3.74 right now so go for it anyway: http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/ca/e...on/metro-2033/ + there's a 20% off code.

Just the usual thoughts on that,it's crap. The problem here is that it's a difficulty level. I assume on PC it'll be simple as flipping a line in a config file.
