Reading Phobias post, he is way more in depth with it than I am. You can use a controller if you like though. I've always used a controller. Some of the extra controls like actually being able to turn your head without turning your body, I never really use as I always play in third person anyway. You can play exactly as you play any third/first person game that you play on consoles man, no worries.

Yeah I think Phobia has been the lone pusher for this game for a long long time man With all the technical stuff, I wonder what he does for a living

I'll stick with the controller though.

          Re: ARMA III

I've played Arma more casually in the past (if possible with Arma) and more recently with DayZ and it is not 100% required to know or even use every key. The biggest knock on Arma II was always its clunky UI which will certainly be fixed for III. It is manageable though, just won't be seemless.

I know you PC users probably wont like it but I would love Arma 3 to be released on the Next Gen consoles for those of us who have poop cpu's. I remember when Arma II was suppose to be made for PS3 and 360 but got canned. I made that original thread...lol. I have Arma II in my Steam library laughing at my CPU pathetic attempts to run it.

I loved Operation Flashpoint on the CPU back in the day and would love this.

Well there is couple reasons for that. When I got into PC gaming, the original Operation Flash Point was the ARMA of today. I played the living hell out of it and the realism is what got me into first person shooters. When ARMA came around it was like a huge holy cow moment for me, I was finally able to escape the horrible new age Hollywood style of action first person shooters and go back to the complex, slower, more realistic pace of a military simulation.

From there on out, I got big into the multiplayer side of ARMA and ARMA 2. Most of the multiplayer servers require plenty of realism mods, and 3rd person is disabled. Granted I would never play this game in 3rd person anyway, but I was heavily involved with the realistic nature of the game.

I'm a huge military buff from the get go, my dad was a marine, most my cousins were marines, and so the military is very intriguing to me.

Getting in a server where there is rank and if you don't follow that rank you are banned from the server fit my play style. You can't just hope into a helicopter and take off if you are a private, you must first have the clearance, get the ok from upper ranks, get the objective, then rollout. That structure to me was mind blowing because the game didn't play like a "game". It played like the real thing.

The biggest complaints I have with the game is these.

              1) Floating aim point, this to me is so stupid. Having to move around our aim in a deadzone, then pushing to the outer edge of this deadzone to turn is just more effort than it should take. Making it harder than it should be.

              2) UI is a so far back in time. Nothing flows and feels natural about the UI and doing certain things. For instance, moving in and planting a C4 under a truck should not be as clunky as it is. Get into position, bring up UI to set C4, then bring up UI again to set time, then get out of dodge, bring up UI again to set off bomb. Way to much for a simple action.

              3) Sound is another short coming of ARMA. Now with that said, mods like the A.C.E. mod GREATLY improve on the default ARMA sounds. I'm hoping ARMA 3 goes with sounds more in line with Battlefield 3.

              4) Next, would be destructive environments. It is there but very basic and rigid. A more natural looking destructive environments would be nice.

              5) Physic system, kill animations and vehicle interactions with the world just are not up to todays standards.

                  That's actually pretty boring IMO

What the heck is the objective here? Its like they're just walking in circles doing the same thing over and over.

It might be fun to be in a big group but as usual dudes online always have to pull away from team work and go into their own mode.

I agree some, but I thought it was cool how they brought over many of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. art work and ambience.

I am far more in favor of more combat oriented type gameplay. Just thought it was a nice change of pace from ARMA and Day Z

I recently put together a decent PC and am tempted to pick up Arma 2. After reading the last few pages here I think I'll wait for 3.

                          Re: ARMA III

ARMA II is still quite a good game. Keeps me entertained for a good few hours. I originally bought ARMA II for the game itself, not DayZ. I discovered that afterwards. I was just amazed by the scale and the realism of the game.

I've played this game mode called Domination a bunch of times and although you do get some idiots in it, it's so much fun. Just flying a helicopter back and forth between base and the AO dropping off guys is fun.

I remember I got into it because I watched a video of a group of British guys on patrol in the games version of Afgan. Seemed so real, searching towns and stuff.

Not yet, as far as I know. Seems at the moment ARMA moving across to consoles is reliant upon DayZ standalone being a success, given the rumours of that being made on console too. (Which would be such a fail..)

Technically, ARMA already is on console. The Operation Flashpoint series has had some success in the last two games but really seems to be a minority of people that like it, I guess because games like CoD still run the show on console.

In my opinion, if ARMA is to ever be made on console, it's going to have to be unique for people to play it, due to the reason as stated before, CoD and BF run the show. I think ARMA could actually do really well if it was released as an online only game on console. MAG was a huge success on PS3 and not many games can pull that off, but I think Bohemia has the right setting and scale to pull such a stunt.

I personally think ARMA is to hyper realistic for consoles. The level of control the game requires would fall short with a controller in my opinion. I also can't see it doing well on console. PC in general is more hardcore than say consoles just for the sake of ease to get started. So that same fan base that finds those hardcore games like ARMA enjoyable are the same who enjoy PC gaming. Where the console player base is little more in line with quick satisfaction.

This is not a knock on console gamers or anything that route its just I don't see the main geographic of console gamers able to enjoy what ARMA brings to the table.
