Best Action/3PS PC Games

[WTF]

Ok, I'm getting ready to start into some PC gaming, since it's the summer and seems there is nothing on TV at night. I'm tired of the 360 and PS3, so I'm going to be taking a small break from them to focus on eye candy that the PC versions can offer.

Right now, I have Batman AA that I haven't started, but will as soon as my new PC build is complete. I want games similar, fun, and nice to look at.

What other options, similar to that should I look at. I do NOT play FPS hardly ever, so those are not the types of game that I'm looking for.

Looking mainly at 3rd Person type games, or action adventure games. I may go back through the Hitman series. Was SC:Conviction a good title to pick up?

Thoughts, suggestions?

Hmm...FPS is where you want to go for showcasing your new PC but there are SOME games in other genres that would do that. Splinter Cell: Conviction is a really short game and wouldn't really test your PC (since it was made for the consoles) but if you can get it really cheap, go for it. It's fun to play.

Here are my suggestions:
Mafia II (3rd-Person)
Assassin's Creed Series (action-adventure)
Dead Space 1 & 2 (3rd-Person/Horror)
Just Cause 2 (3rd-Person)

That's all I can think off based on your preferences. Now if you don't care about the genre and just want good looking games which are fun as well, here are some to start you off:

The Witcher 2 (RPG)
Crysis 1 & 2 (FPS)
Portal 1 & 2 (First-Person Adventure)
Metro 2033 (FPS)
Starcraft 2 (Strategy)
Borderlands (FPS/RPG/Adventure)
Brink (FPS/Multiplayer centric) (haven't tried, but has good reviews)
Bulletstorm (FPS) (haven't tried, but has decent reviews)

Once you have your new PC, download Steam (create an account if you've never had it before) and download demos. Plus, it's THE best way to acquire PC games over the 'net. They always have deals going on.

The Fallout Series...mods are somewhat easy, and pretty fun

Edit: Assumed you played ME 1 & 2....couple favs, still good suggestions though

You can actually play Crysis with a 3rd person camera so don't rule that one out. There's a mod and a console command.

SC Conviction was good on the 360,I would guess it's just as good on PC.

Can do some impressive stuff with GTA IV:

Holy cow that looks amazing. I didn't get my hands too dirty with GTA4 when it came out, so I guess that's definitely an option . Does that take a beast to run it? Have they updated the animations or fighting, firefights, etc?

No idea about other mods. I don't have it,I've just seen some of the vids but I would guess it'd take something somewhat beastly to run it.

Wow, just looked at that guys system specs. Guess I'll need to be running SLI or Crossfire to achieve graphics like that eh? I haven't played through even 10-20% of GTA 4, so I may be well past due.

I've saw one mod where it turns Niko into Jason Statham from the Transporter, ha.

Yeah he is using a dedicated Physx Card. But you can easily surpass his graphics nowadays. Since he using 200 series and a 400 series card.

Get you a 500 series combined with a 400 series and you will easily surpass it.
