I picked it up because I love the wacky love letter to horror movies, but haven't opened it (cause I heard it was short). Has anyone tried it yet?

I will answer that. Since I am weak willed I opened the game. Here are my thoughts after 1 hour

+ The atmosphere is fantastic. It really is a Grindhouse Horror Action Comedy. Hotspur is the perfect Antonio Banderas Western/Demon Hunting hero.

+ The story is absurd in a good way. If this was a movie I would own it.

+ The gameplay is nothing new, but it works. It's like a faster paced RE 4, but with the ability to run and gun at the same time. I wish the game had move support for the PS3, but that's my only complaint so far. It's exactly what I wanted.

+ The characters are so over the top that the immmature humor works here (as opposed to the new Duke game that many aren't enjoying)

-/+ The graphics are kind of PS2ish, but the art work is nice. This kind of thing does not really bother me that much.

- All reports are saying the game is short...however since Blockbuster doesn't have it and I want to support the franchise I took the plunge.

-BTW I am sure most know this, but this is NOT a game you want your kids seeing or even listening to.

I'm waiting on my copy from GameFly. Chose this as my third game out from GF over Dungeon Siege III.

(Need to finish Crysis 2 and send that back.)

I was going to say something else but it's best to keep it to that. I don't think people would even want to read about it. They're probably going to though. I am rather curious how they got away with some of this stuff without an AO rating.

How can you have a game that literally has a highway to hell and hells bells and not get AC/DC?

From the comments about the short length of the game I thought it would be 4 hours but its supposed to be around 8 hours which is fine by me.

I played about an hour and the game is so over the top. The controls aren't that tight but they work and it's taking me some time to get comfortable making head shots, which is cool to see. Johnson who is your partner is pretty funny and the dialog between them is awesome. I've only seen a couple of enemy types but they are very cool. So far I'm impressed and can't wait to get home from work to play.

I think the thing about the game is that while the actual gameplay isn't something that will blow you away, playing through the ehnvironments is tons of fun. The characters are awesome. I am about 1.5 hours in and there have been a few great conversaitons between the character and his Johnson....including the whole conversation about how Garcia met his girlfriend...could have been right out of a Tarrentino movie.

His dead girlfriend chases him through the woods and into a cabin. It then switches to the signature Evil Dead camera as she backs off. A reference from Johnson. There's a trap door with a zombie sticking his head out inside. There's a fight then a comment from Chester afterwards. Chasing resumes.

Game Trailers was not very happy with the game. Like a 6.8 or 6.9.

Game was really good up until Act 4. 4-1 is up there with the most frustrating gameplay experiences I've had in a long time. It takes the worst parts of the game (aiming) and makes it critically vital. Ugh.

I'm going to give it one last crack tomorrow but if it continues to frustrate (which I'm pretty sure it will) the game is going to GS and I'm getting EDF to hold me over until NCAA.

Well it gets back to normal for chapter 5 but yes you'll likely be frustrated with the rest of chapter 4.

It turns into a side scrolling bullet hell type shooter with "paper" graphics for 2 or 3 of the levels.
