I fell off the Halo boat after Halo 2 was such a fail on the PC, it was only made for Vista, then they never released anymore for the PC. I've played the other games at a friends house but I just never got into them. I like scanning every once an awhile to see where they're going though with the series.

Re: Halo 4 trailer....
Can't wait for Halo 4. Although with the main enemy out of the way, I'm expecting lots of creativity with the new story.
Maybe we see John 117's face at the end of Halo 6?:P

Re: Halo 4 trailer....
It would be cool, but he would probably look like Peter Weller from the Robocop movie. It would be hard to shock us at this point. What I hope is that the planet sized ship he was being sucked into has scarier villains this time around. I thought some of the bad guys were comical at best. Maybe 343 studious go a completely different direction. Also looking forward to the Halo movie Halo:Faith.Comment

343's Frank O'Connor Weighs In on Ryan Payton's Departure From Halo 4
During our lengthy chinwag with 343 Industries' Franchise Director, Frank O'Connor, we eventually got on
to the subject of innovation in relation to Halo 4, asking why Creative Director, Ryan Payton decided to depart 343 as the studio looks to push boundaries and innovate.
“Ryan hasn't been the Creative Director on Halo for more than 15 months and he was doing something different on the game when he left. He was working on the narrative design of the game, and I absolutely get that – in some ways he was making the game with cinematics – and for want of a better term, conventional storytelling," Payton's "good friend" O'Connor explained. "Ryan comes from a Japanese gaming background, and he worked on Metal Gear Solid obviously, which has a pretty surreal blend of storytelling and action. And I think he wanted to do something much more... I don't want to speak for him. That's so unfair."
O'Connor continued, offering a little more insight as to why he thinks Payton might have chosen to move on "more than 15 months ago": "But definitely coming from his Japanese narrative background, the narrative design stuff he was doing on Halo was definitely that very European, American style of conventional narrative storytelling. You can see why he wouldn't find that challenging or innovative, but I wish him well in his endeavours and I think you're going to see much more Japanese flavour from him.”
Payton has since founded a new studio called Camoflaj, and is currently working on two new titles. "We valued Ryan's input, but he hasn't been leading the project for over 15 months," O'Connor concluded. "Ryan had been gone for quite some time before the story showed up [online]... The noise from the story was a little unexpected..."
Halo 4 is out in 2012.Comment

Re: Halo 4 trailer....
Master Chief Will Change in Halo 4 And Cortana will be different, too.
343 Industries has confirmed that we won't see the same old Master Chief in Halo 4. In a new interview, Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor has confirmed that Chief's armor will undergo some changes in the new game.
"There's some fairly radical modifications to his armor," O'Connor said. "Some of those are an artistic evolution, but some are connected to the story. We just can't talk about it yet. He's been in space for a long time."
According to O'Connor, Master Chief won't be the only one who's different in Halo 4. Cortana will also have evolved since we last saw her in Halo 3.
"Seven years is the lifespan for a smart AI before it enters a state called rampancy," O'Connor said. "Cortana was getting close to the end of her natural lifespan at the end of Halo 3 but she has been exposed to far more information than any other AI in existence. She's going to develop some muscle from that process but it also contributes to her rampancy - that much information makes things worse."
O'Connor added that Halo 4 should be a great beginning to the new Halo trilogy and that it will bring back the same sense of discovery fans are used to from Halo.
"The most important thing for me in the whole series is the sense of wonder and mystery," said O'Connor. "We're definitely going back to that air of exploration, and putting in some surprises that I think people will like."Comment

Also a Halo 4 leak that was a interesting read. Microsoft confirmed it was speculation at best but still a nice read: http://segmentnext.com/2011/06/09/ha...play-detailed/
Halo 4 returns players to the story of the Master Chief and Cortana in the events that follow the conclusion of Halo 3. Players will experience an all new story and introduce a new roster of enemies and weapons to the Halo experience. Set against the top secret Forerunner planetoid known to ONI as Sigma 7, players will encounter a dark new foe and unravel more of the mysteries behind the forerunners and the Office of Naval Intelligence.
At the heart of Halo 4 is a stronger focus than ever before behind story telling and player choice. Players will be offered an unprecedented level of customization and a narrative experience never before seen in a first person shooter. On a technical level Halo 4 pushes the boundaries of the action genre by incorporating larger battlefields than ever before and players will experience conflicts that seamlessly span land, sea and space.
Halo 4 will expand the series trademark arsenal of weapons and vehicles beyond any other title so far. Players can expect fan favorites to return along with new additions.
Halo 4 will also feature the revolutionary new Arsenal Improvisation Mechanics that allow for menu-free, creative customization of weapons and vehicles in the heat of combat. Players will take their fight to a new level by dynamically tailoring their weapons and vehicles to suit any situations or enemies.
At the moment it seems 343 are focusing on the new and improved story and weapons system (of which the new AIM mechanic is only mysteriously alluded to) but there was some video shown that fills in some of the gaps. Halo 4 is set on a Forerunner planet that has an inner and outer surface that provides two distinct styles.
The outside is very industrial and features a wide range of hostile Forerunner tech and AI. The video showed space combat here. The inside of the planetoid is hollow and is sectioned off in to many tiers/bands (almost resembling Halo rings) that feature a myriad of natural environments not only resembling earth’s but many other alien terrains.
The video featured combat across a multitude of environments from space to mountains, plains and oceans. Presumably, ONI had been top secretly researching the planet for some. There are UNSC forces on the planet but they look really degraded and disorganized and it was implied that they may be divided into factions and warring with each other.
At one point we see a heavily modified warthog that has had the wheels replaced two kind of anti gravity devices. At another point the Chief is clearly sprinting which possibly implies a return of armor abilities. There was no sign of the Flood or the Covenant but at the very end of the trailer the ‘dark new threat’ was hinted at.
The video ends with the Chief standing at a dark cave entrance and from within can be heard some menacing gurgling and grunting. Cortana says “They’re coming back … and there’s a LOT more of them this time”, the Master chief then readies a new weapon that looks like a cross between a rocket launcher and a Needler and it focuses on his helmet and visor and a number of strange digital effects ripple across his visor then the videos ends.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Halo 4 trailer....
I was kind of meh about the Halo 4 announcement at E3 partly because I was happy with the series ending with Reach, and partly because the announcement was leaked before the show. At this time however I'm sitting here like, "More Halo? Sign me up."
Hopefully I never have to see the Flood again.Comment
