Battlefield 1942 Multiplayer?

Do I need to buy all of the BF1942 Expansion packs to play the game online? Or are the expansion packs just like abunch of new maps, weapons, and vehicles?

I was also wondering if I can just use my Keyboard to fly Airplanes and drive Tanks? Or do I need to buy a joystick?

you don't need the expansion packs, they just add more maps, weapons and stuff...I haven't played in a long time, but I think people still play the original stuff

Also, it's tough flying a plane without a joystick, but driving a tank is fine without one...You can fly a plane with the keyboard (it's possible) just a little tougher. I didn't really feel like learning it that way, so I plugged in my really old sidewinder joystick

Make sure you get all the patches before you try to play online. There are a ton of patches.
