The graphics card is pretty sweet, and I could always upgrade it in the future. I'd probably have to upgrade the power supply to do so, but overall I think it's a good deal.

Any advice or opinions on whether or not this is a good deal?
In my opinion, no matter what the "deal" is on those pre-assembled systems, you will get more for your money by building your own. That MB in that HP is total garbage. You might spend a few hundred more building your own, but you will be getting quality parts. That's my .02

    Good luck!

      Re: PC or Console?

From someone who after the Intellivision/NES etc.. was pretty much all PC and then switched to consoles around the Original XBOX days...I'm very glad I am back into the PC realm. I love my consoles but after getting back into the PC side there's no leaving it again.

It took me a few weeks to get my KB/Mouse controls back in my head but well worth it. Plus if I prefer a controller on some games I can go with that also.

Just finished my 5th or so playthrough over the years of HL2 and am in middle of Crysis. I tried not letting my "emotions" get the best of me but I've already got a good amount of mod sights in my favorites. I even bought COD4 and downloaded th BOT mod and have been playing the MP offline with bots. Pretty fun

Can't wait for BF3 and Elder Scrolls and am excited for whatever the MOD community comes up with. Especially BF3 IF DICE rethinks it and releases a Mod Kit.

I did not build my system this go around but when my Laptop gets "Old" I have a full tower case standing buy and NEWEGG on speed dial

Your best bet is to pick your parts yourself. Just do some searching..ask at OS and then order and build.

Yeah I figured it was a cheap deal lol, I'm a little hesitant about building a computer because I'm not the most technical person, but I feel like it might be easy enough for a caveman to do such as myself since there are places like Tom's Hardware which put it in very simple terms. Anyway, here's the potential gig I was going to build and still might build. The beauty of Newegg is that every part since I guess August when I first selected all the parts and what not have gone down an average of five to ten dollars, that's the beauty of Newegg and maybe being patient.

I'm still deciding on what CPU cooler and optical drive I want. Overall, I think it has the potential to be a good rig and last for a while.

The stock cooler with the 1100T keeps my processor less than 50C during regular gaming, less than 56C full load. Then again, my house is cold

Well that system looks A LOT better than that pre-assembled HP !!!

I have always preferred Intel processors, but AMD is just as good....almost... LOL

I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I have built a few, so if you run into any snags during assembly and need a question answered, feel free to drop me a PM.

Oh and as far as a CPU heatsink, chances are that eventually you will want to overclock so investing in a good cooler will come in handy. I use a Corsair H50 and I have had really good results with it.

            Best of luck

Just updated my system and got the gigabyte mb that has an ssd for caching. I have an ssd for my os but use a 2 tb drive for games and use the ssd to cache the games drive and it's sped up load times dramatically.

This.I've also moved my PC to the living room and I've connected it to my 47" HD TV.360 controller+wireless mouse/keyb is a perfect combination. Now my PS3 collects dust for nearly 2 months.I have even put down The Show..
Now playing NBA2k12,PES12,Witcher 2,Deus Ex,Rugby Challenge and some indie games: Costume Quest,Unepic,Bastion. Waiting for Skyrim,BF3,Arkham City.I guess my PS3 will continue to be inactive for a long time.
