Anyone here use the Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Pad?

I just bought a brand new Mirosoft Sidewinder Gamepad for $1.99 off of E-Bay. I read some good reviews for it, but I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried one out? And does anyone know if I can use it to foly Aircrafts in BF1942?

I've tried it, I doubt you'll have much fun with it trying to fly the planes in BF42.

It's a digital pad, so it's not much different than using the keyboard.

You'll want to get an analog pad if you want any sort of control.

Well crap... Ohh well I got it for basically $8.00 including shipping. So I guess I made it out ok.

It's not bad for sports games or some sort of platformer (do they even have those on PC anymore?), but for anything requiring precise control, I've never liked the Sidewinders much...sorry.

Which kind of Sidewinder? I have 2. One with the triggers and 6 face butons, mode and start button, I think. Digital Pad, no sticks. The other is kinda weird. It has a similar button layout, except it rotates on an axis and that takes precidence(sp?) when trying to move up or down, left or right. I hate that one. The first Sidewinder without the axis, is pretty good for sports games. I played Live 2000 a lot with it. Not great for much else though. I'm really not a fan.

I have the first one that you mentioned. I got it mainly so I can play sports games and stuff like that.
