I'm about to get my beta pass code tonight I believe. I've been playing LoL since December so this will be both familiar and unfamiliar territory. Excited to see which I like better.

Just got the beta today. For those of you who have played LoL and DOTA2, which do you like better?

I've played hundreds of games of LoL and about 10 games of DOTA 2, so it's no fair for me to compare. I feel like in the end I will probably like DOTA 2 more. LoL has simplified the MOBA-style game, and while that accessibility is great I believe in the DOTA 2 will be more rewarding because of it's higher skill curve.

This. I've played hundreds of dota 1/2 and a handful of lol games. After playing dota its just hard to get into lol. It's just not as rewarding to me. After playing dota for like 4 years now, I'm still only average (and sometimes worse lol).

And I sure anyone that is playing with you will tell you when you are playing below average. I understand everyone wants to win but some people that play these types of games are absolutely ruthless.

It's easily the most unforgiving community I've ever seen. It's pretty pathetic. I really wish we could get a bunch of people here to play so we could just run private games.

I haven't played DOTA 1 or 2, but this was my experience in my one and only match on LoL. I mean I installed it, played a quick match and I'm getting harassed about me "feeding" and all sorts of insults. Really? Isn't there at least some type of skill level matchmaking? I'm just trying to learn how to play the game.

Met one of my brothers friends on a night out last night. Big dude that trains MMA and is pretty quiet so we're not talking a whole lot. Through a few random bits of conversation gaming comes up and I find out that he plays a ton of DOTA 2. We talked for an hour about the game.

As NY said, the community is terrible but if you can play with compentent friendly people or better yet friends it is an amazing gaming experience.

I been following this thread for a while now. What exactly is this game? Like a Diablo clone, RTS, etc?

It's based off of a Warcraft 3 mod, so that probably puts it closer to RTS than anything else. However, you only control one character and work together with your team (hopefully) to win.

I believe people call it a MOBA, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.

I've been playing a fair amount the last week or two. I like it, the learning curve is definitely super steep but I think part of it is the console shooter mentality of shoot everything right away. You have to be patient and not be afraid to run away, like far away, all the way back to base if necessary.

I still read this a lot...

I mostly play with randoms so if anyone has it look me up on steam. cake612

I just can't stop playing this game. I thought my interest in gaming was declining over the last couple years but it's really just because I've been buying and playing mostly Fifa, The Show and Madden with some shooters mixed in here and there. I'd basically never played a MOBA until this and it's amazing. For me it's hard to get that feeling of I died but I know what I did wrong and I'll do something differently the next time I'm in that situation. It makes it that much more rewarding when you take everything you learn and finally have an awesome match and rack up a bunch of kills and rake in the gold and have a couple crazy items.

I can't believe I've played 50 hours in about 2 weeks and it's still all I want to play. Needless to say I'll be on a lot this weekend if anyone wants to join.

This was me about six months ago. All I played was FIFA and shooters and though I enjoyed my gaming, I knew my interest was waning. The only game that felt refreshing to play was Starcraft 2. Through SC2, a friend offered the simple suggestion, "Well, have you tried League of Legends?" Who knew such an innocuous question would have such an impact? Became hooked on LoL and since then I've really only played LoL, SC2, Diablo 3 and Dota 2.

On to Dota 2, I am not so good at the game but will play a few games today. I typically play supports - right now I would say Lich is my main. I know I have Xavier on my list but if anybody else has Dota 2 feel free to add me, steam ID: sportsdudeiu

Always up for a game or 5. NYJet is a pretty consistent player and a good coach. He helped me get going. I'm not even concerned with NCAA or Madden anymore. Dota and some other PC games provide me with much more entertainment value.
