PS1 Metal Gear Solid actually still holds up well to this day.

I played it a few years ago and reconfirmed that it is my favorite in the series.

They just went too far off the deep end with the story and the cinemas after the first Playstation game.

Oh awesome, I didn't know it comes with a voucher for MGS1. I was just gonna buy it off of PSN too.

That's in the Japanese version only. The "domestic" version in this case means the JP version. Ours is the "overseas" version.

But hey, we get Peace Walker and they don't. Plus I pretty much bought the PSN classic MGS as soon as it came on the store.

I didn`t catch the release in the article but it comes out on November 8th. I will probably just get this as Christmas gift then. So many good games coming out this fall.

I actually have the PS1 version of Metal Gear Solid, so I'm not phased by the fact that the Western release won't get the product code. However, I sure would have loved if they could have remade that version is HD (although I understand the difficulty given it's a PS1 game).

This collection is one of my most anticipated games this year, along with NBA 2K12, the Splinter Cell Collection, the Silent Hill Collection, and Uncharted 3.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

With all these darn remakes in Hollywood, a remake of a great game like MGS wouldn't be bad. Personally at this point, I would love for a reboot of the franchise. I'm a huge Metal Gear fan, but do not know how to feel about Metal Gear Rising yet.

This is a day 1 purchase for me, just to get Snake Eater in HD. That has to be one of my most favorite games of all-time.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 remakes of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker support four-player co-op on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Series creator Hideo Kojima revealed the news this morning. He uploaded a photo of Peace Walker being played in the office on four separate monitors.

Kojima also noted that, "During loading, characters' dialogues pop up at random."

But whether Peace Walker HD will have split-screen co-op as well is currently unknown.

The transition from PSP onto PS3 and Xbox 360 has also brought Peace Walker 60 frames-per-second.

The PS3 and 360 remakes of Peace Walker are part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

The standard Metal Gear Solid HD Collection includes Metal Gear Solid 2, MGS3, Peace Walker and Metal Gear 1 and MG2.

The Ultimate HD Collection adds Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 4 to the mix. That's available on PS3 at Zavvi for £70.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection won't fit on one Xbox 360 DVD disc - Konami has had to use two.

On PS3, only one Blu-ray disc was needed.

There's no word on how the Xbox 360 content is split across the two discs.

Konami has also revealed that the HD, console revamp of PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will have online mulitplayer for six people. We found out earlier this month that Peace Walker HD will also allow online co-op for four.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection contains HD remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Also included are "conversions" of MSX games Metal Gear 1 and 2. The VR Missions released alongside MGS2: Substance are thrown in, too.
Sweet, this set will include the VR missions.

                        Kotaku at TGS

I got to play Metal Gear Solid 2 this morning at Konami's Tokyo Game Show booth, the game part of the company's HD collection of the older titles in the series.

Having not played it since it was first released, I was curious to see how things had changed and/or been improved for this latest iteration of the classic stealth action game.

Hit the gallery above for gameplay footage and screenshots of Metal Gear Solid 2 HD.

It doesn't take long to see it hasn't changed much at all. Which depending on how you view your HD re-releases is either a good or bad thing.

Some games, like Halo Anniversary, go to town, adding so many new features it looks and feels like a new game. Others, like Ico, keep the bones of the game the same but spice up the visuals just a little.

And then there's Metal Gear Solid 2, which takes the approach that if it was good enough for the 1990s, it's good enough for now, and changes almost nothing.
In some ways, this sucks, as the muddy character textures and low polygon counts look awful on a big HDTV (the level art, being blocky by design and better lit, doesn't look too bad). In others, though, it's awesome, as you see things like hairy armpits (pictured in clip above) in greater detail than ever before.

As for how the game plays, well, it's Metal Gear Solid 2. The controller is mostly the same on PS3, so everything gameplay-wise is how you remember it. It's funny, having recently played Deus Ex, which owes so much to the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Solid's stealth mechanics have held up surprisingly well. [/quote]

We are getting the limited edition here in the US also, but for a whopping $79. These limited editions are getting out of whack.

That is insane for a HD collection. "Limited Edition" or not. They are asking new game pricing. It is what I paid for MGS4 Limited. How much is the regular?

And the Japan one gets a voucher for MGS PSOne DL (legacy not HD) and not Peace Walker HD I read. So the US one seems better.
