If a game does not have mass appeal...should you pass at launch?
Some games simply are canned experiences that you can play at anytime alone and enjoy just as much, so why purchase them at launch? Simply wait a few months and get the game at bargain prices rather than the $60 price tag.

I agree with Beantown. But why not look at the opposite, why not get a game like COD when its cheap....since the appeal is so massive, you can pretty much hv the same experience at a cheaper price later? Honestly, buy what you want when you want. But I guess how your funds look at the time and will look in the future play a big part, too.Comment

If their is a game that I am really interested in I usually buy it regardless if it has mass appeal or not. It helps for games to have a larger audience though as that will help keep the support by the devs high and not bail on it."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

There's 2 ways to look at it.
1. It'll get cheap fast so you can save a bunch of money.
2. You're supporting something different. Unless you want more sequels and FPS war games you should buy it right away.
I'm more towards the 2nd thing.Comment

If it's something new, or different from a developer I'd like to show my support and pick it up at full price because I don't know how much purchasing a game after it has dropped in rice really helps the developer.Comment

Sounds like bad reasoning even to me, but it's honesty.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

This is part of my thinking as well. If there is a niche game produced or just one that does not have all of the features seen in other titles in the genre then I want to support the dev team by purchasing it early.Comment

Re: If a game does not have mass appeal...should you pass at launch?
I always buy what I want to buy, regardless if a lot of other people like the game or not. I am not into online gaming, so therefore I can careless if others own the game or not.
At the end of the day you have to please yourself and not others. I know some people who ONLY buy games that have mass appeal, simply for they can "fit in" and come on online message forums saying hey guys I have this game too.
When in reality, deep inside they don't even like the game and only playing it because others are playing it online on their frieinds list.Comment
