Tekken gameplay is stiff and stale to me. DOA all the way.

Lol, cartoon babes aren't my thing.

Goh, how's the gameplay? Really anyone can answer that.

No reason to think it will be radically different than previous entries. If you haven't played the previous games, they're fast-action fighters that rely heavily on counters and not so much on extended combo strings and/or juggles. Interactive environments and cinematic presentation complete the package.

Won't know until tuesday. It apparently changed quite a bit from the demo. It's a lot faster than Tekken and has a counter system instead of just blocking and side stepping. The biggest issue I've heard so far is that there's no endings in arcade mode but "the story goes on forever." but I don't know how long that actually is.

But just in case anyone is wondering, there are apparently plenty of cutscenes throughout storymode.

Put in an hour tonight and the game is really slick. The character models and stages look incredible and the gameplay is really fast-paced and fun. The thing that's great about DOA is that you don't get that same dull, mechanical quality that you do in other fighters.

                Keep the impressions coming.

I pre-ordered through Amazon, but opted for the free shipping, so I won't get it until next week. Everything I've read so far has been positive though. Looking forward to being able to play it.

                  I absolutely love this game!

Got TTT2 as well and this feels way less robotic. The environments are absolutely gorgeous.

The rock, paper, scissor mechanism may sound basic but is incredibly fluid.

I am a fan of old school, keep it simple non-sports gaming and I love the 1 punch, 1 kick, 1 guard and 1 throw button. There's no up down, down 25 degrees, right up 270 degrees combo nonsense!

It just lets you focus on the action on screen and did I mention the gorgeous environments?!

This game here is just super fun and folks you have all got to get this!

Anybody with the PS3 version know if this game installs data on the PS3 harddrive. I hate multiplatform games that wear down the blu ray drive with the disc spinning too much.

Yes, there's an optional 2.7 GB install and it's recommended that you take advantage of it as there's a bit of slowdown on some stages if the game is being played off the disc.

I should be getting my copy in the mail tomorrow. I was thinking about getting Tekken, but ultimately decided on DOA because of my familiarity with the series. Even though I was never particularly any good at the game and spent most of my time getting countered to death, I always enjoyed the gameplay and visual style. The impressions I've read around the web sound pretty decent to me. Looking forward to checking it out.

I'm loving the detail in this game.

You know when you're in a tight fight you can actually hear your character struggle and sweat!

There's something to the detail in this game that I hadn't found in any other non-sports game recently. You see wounds opening up, environments crashing, its just unbelievable. Every fight reminds of the fight between Bane and Batman in TDKR.

As far as details go this is The Show of fighting games, yah you can tell I am loving this!

Whatever you do, don't read the GameInformer review. Usually that's a site I have some respect for, but not in this case. They give the game a 6.00 - which is an absolute joke and shows the sort of bias that the series has always had to fight against. In the synopsis, he summed thigs up with:

                              Concept:

Make a bunch of big-bosomed ladies punch each other again

                              Graphics:

New sweat and dirt effects are about as exciting as they sound

                              Sound:

Goofy hip hop and wailing guitars accompany your bouts

                              Playability:

Everything controls fine, but the fighting system is showing its age

                              Entertainment:

DOA 5 can make for some good button-mashing fun, but fans of the genre have far superior alternatives

                              Replay:

                              Moderately Low
As soon as I read the line under "Concept", I knew the review was going to be trash. And it is.

By contrast, they gave Tekken Tag 2 an 8.50 and and under Graphics they said "Gorgeous stages and character models make this one of the best-looking fighters on the market."

The LE is huge. Almost as big as the FO: NV one.
Oddly enough after install the disc keeps spinning, that's only happend when the DLC was on disc but nothing I've put in has been.

Counters still throwing me off. Gameplay in general seems smoother than the demo and very good overall. I've been running arcade mode trying to get Tina's special costume. It'd be nice if they at least visualized it with a slot machine or something. Must've known Hitomi is my fav from DOA 3,she's only come up once.

Not impressed with the stages. I like their functionality but stylistically they're a giant meh.
