Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
If you want a good, competitive multiplayer game for the SNES that anyone can pickup and enjoy, I recommend Tiny Toons: Wacky Sports Challenge.

So many good memories with that one, and if you have a multitap on-hand, it supports 4-player simultaneous play!
It was basically Mario Party before that trend started.Last edited by jyoung; 09-25-2011, 01:49 PM.Comment

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
I was a Tecmo Super Bowl guy. And a Super Mario Bros. 3 guy. My darkhorse was Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, where I dominated with C.Fieldman, A.Melltram and the rest of the Detroit Wheels.
Also, my brother sent this to me the other day. How many remember this show? The final spree made me so envious. Those kids were living my dream. Never realized how cracked out Johnny Arcade was though. He's channeling Jesse Spano in the caffeine pills episode of Saved by the Bell.

Didn't they have actual NES characters on the show also? I vaguely remember one with the Bigfoot Truck making an appearance.Comment

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
That show was awesome. I remember when I was a kid - they had a competition in my city and I went to the movie theater and got to play some games on a movie screen.
On a side note - I made it to the 4th stage in Ninja Gaiden. Had to give up at that point. No game saves makes it an adventure every time I want to get further. I'm not big on leaving my NES on these days, so I have to get through the 3 stages before picking up again.Comment

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
Ya that no save/password makes playing Ninja Gaiden a whole day activity lol. If you have/can find the Trilogy for SNES, it has a password feature so you can save it.Comment

Fired up Battletoads today. I am still level 9's *****. Screw you, Terra Tubes!
I think I've committed all the other levels of this game to memory, though. I can breeze through all the other ones pretty easily, though I always warp past that stupid Ice Cavern. Can't stand playing it.Comment

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
Oh yes. The old NES. Loved that system. I still have mine. In fact I had it refurbished 4 years ago and also sent in all the games to be cleaned. Cost me 50 bucks and Nintendo did it. Was worth it too. It plays perfect.
Tecmo Super Bowl
Bases Loaded 2
Golgo 13
Metal Gear
Goal
Slient Service
Ring Kings
Mike Tyson Punch Out
The Lone Ranger
Ninja Gaiden (I beat this game when I was 16)
Ninja Gaiden 2
Ninja Gaiden 3
Super Mario Brothers
Super Mario Brothers 3
Legend of Zelda
Ultima
Baseball Stars
Those were all my all time fav's on that system.
I still play Tecmo Bowl Super Bowl with my entire Sunday softball team as we do an all day BBQ/tournament every 4 months to kick off each season. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
Both are really just memorization IMO...you CAN react to most of the obstacles on both (except toward the end when it gives you no indication at all), but you're more likely to get it through repeated deaths.Comment

Re: NES/SNES Gaming Thread
Pay attention to the audio cues on the hoverbike levels in Battletoads. Time your dodges/jumps to the "whoosh" sound effect whenever a new obstacle pops up.
Makes those levels a breeze.
There's a lot of subtle audio cues in that game, actually. In Snake Pit, you can listen to the snakes making a "turn" without actually seeing them on screen.Comment
