    shooters..

ok, i bet there have been posts like this before, but since people are
always changin their minds about this topic:
what do you think of ego-shooters?

personally i think there is a slight difference between games like Unreal
and games like Vietnam (which have a realistic background)..

i think Unreal type games are boring as hell and really stupid but you at least have a chance to kinda ignore the extreme brutallity...

games that are based on certain historical events are a whole different ballgame to me..
i think only a VERY stupid, or a sick person can enjoy these "games"..
i wonder why you cant import your grandfathers face into the game and fight against
germans.. i could import my own grandpa and we could see whos family would be struck harder by
    the loss of a member..

really i dont wanna sound like your mom, but isnt it strange that about 3 seconds after
the USA attacked Iraq a half-life MOD came up..
great, now you can play as your own dad, and in case he didnt make it, well maybe you will..

i think its just sad that these kind of games are even produced..
i cant tell if they make highschool kids grab a gun and shoot everyone, but even if they dont
i think their should be a law against em..

give me some thoughts! maybe im wrong... (nahh..)

P.S.: i dont care if you can see blood or not...

I beg to differ, I dont see how you can say movies that depict such gore are ok but the games are not. It would be a sad state of affairs if we were getting educated on our history by watching movies like Saving Private Ryan.

Movies are a suspension of reality and so are games. They are both forms of entertainment in different mediums. With your logic, we could also include novels that have lead characters in historic 'NAM type settings.

I agree with tigerx...are we going to ban Tom Clancy novels next? Those have a fictional, but realistic, universe that has terrorist attacks and whatnot. Games don't cause people to go nuts and pick up a gun, those people are pretty unstable all ready.

Agreed. Ive been playing violent video games and watching R-rated movies since 5 years old and never once have I ever felt the need to pick up a weapon.
