My gaming backlog is ridiculous. Help me decide what to play next.

As a 31 year old father of 2, who is gainfully employed (and overworked I might add) as an associate attorney at a large Pittsburgh law firm, the time that I have to dedicate to my favorite hobby is dwindling. Combined with a plethora of phenomenal "must-play" games, my gaming backlog is out of control. I need help deciding what game to tackle next.

    1. Borderlands- I have a buddy who will play through this with me, so I won't have to go solo
    2. Oblivion- I need to get ready for Skyrim
    3. Deus Ex- I really want to play this game, I have heard great things
    4. Castlevania Lord of Shadows: I started this and really enjoyed it, but then got sidetracked
    5. Dead Space 2- I loved the original
    6. COD Black Ops- Still need to play the single player
    7. Alan Wake- This game really intrigues me
    8. Resident Evil 5- I am just finishing up RE4 HD and this would be a good segway, I still can't believe I haven't played beyond the first couple of levels on this. I don't think any of my friends have this, so I will be going solo
    9. Left 4 Dead 2- I don't think any of my friends have this one, so I might be on my own
    10. Fallout New Vegas- Now that this has been patched, I really should play it
    11. The Saboteur- I bought this in the bargain bin thinking I would play it someday

I know how you feel. There are so many games I want to play but no time to play them in, especially with a newborn coming any day now... But I would pick Black Ops as the story is pretty short so I would get that out of the way.

Myself I'm trying to finish up Borderlands.

Go with Castlevania. Especially if you already started it. That way, you'll be done with it before the November game releases.

Cut out the saboteur, RE5, and lord of shadow for now. Cod is really short, so I would start there. I would also take out oblivion at this point, as well as new Vegas. Both of those are time sinks, and there's a better one coming out in a couple weeks (skyrim).

Yep the moment kids/wife come into your life....no time for games it seems. Same story for me. Lots of games and not enough time to play them.

I'd go with Deus Ex. I heard good things about that game.

Congrats on the baby to come. Kids are tough, but there is no better feeling than being a dad.

Is Black Ops story, as far as length, in line with the other COD games? 5-8 hours?

Id go with Deus Ex and Dead Space, both have great stories and wont take 100 hours to finish. Oblivion and New Vegas will take huge amounts of time especially with all the dlc's available. Im in the same exact boat as you (two small kids and wife) and ive been playin oblivion for two years now lol.

Thanks. Im pretty excited to becoming a dad. Its my first so everything is new to me.

Yeah, Black Ops is about 5 hours, depending on the difficulty you like to play. If you play on easy you can probably finish it sooner.

Gainfully employed and overworked seem like the new trend of a down economy. Those fortunate enough to have jobs are doing 2-3x more.

I'm getting married next week, and also have a really, really challenging job, along with a desire to play video games at age 30. I'm moving, and as I pack up my PS3, I can only fear that this is the end for me, lol

wow...so Deus Ex is the overwhelming winner. Understanding that I am a completionist and that I take my time going through game like that, how much time should I expect to spend? 30-50 hours?

Need to add Dark Souls on there. It will keep you occupied and depressed for a long period of time.

I loved Alan Wake so that got my vote. It's also short enough that you can complete it and move on to Borderlands or Deus Ex
