Golden Axe (PC). I remember my brother playing it all the way one day in February 1991 (I'm pretty sure it was the same day of the NBA All-Star game). I wouldn't touch this kind of game today (as I can't stand it), but back then it was awesome for me and my brother.
      My Specs:

      ZX Spectrum
      CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
      GPU: Monochrome display
      RAM: 48 KB
      OS: Sinclair BASIC

Sports games are my mistress but my true love will always be the RPG and this is where it started:

And the anti-piracy disk that came with it:

YES! Wasteland was so good. Total precursor to the Fallout series that I still love today.

My favorite all-time retro games in no particular order:

              D&D Pool of Radiance
              Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Starflight (Perhaps the greatest game ever, all things considered)
              Tie Fighter
              Xwing
Jagged Alliance (another under the radar game that was awesome)
              Civilization II
              Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Don't know how interested people would be but someone went ahead and made an unofficial Wing Commander.

It is free and took them a decade to make!

Looks incredible and as a Wing Commander fan I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Back in the mid 90's I pumped an enormous amount of hours into X-Wing on my family's 486. I haven't played it since and no doubt it hasn't dated well but I found that game to be completely engrossing.

Xwing and tie fighter are two of my all time favorite games. That wing commander reboot looks like a most try.

Hellz yea !! Replaying them right now and taking a party from Pool of Radiance all the way through Pools of Darkness. Traditional style RPGs were and will always be my fav genre.

                          Here's some other good ones...

Apparently this patch doesn't just make the game playable on modern systems or upgrade the textures, models, etc.. but they also massively improve on the original engines and renderers also.

Really a massive undertaking in which legendary games such as SS2 and Thief 2 well deserve.
